A calm mind attracts goodwill and a disturbed mind attracts illwill. Everyone is good in a calm-mind. If you want to know a person properly, then see how that person reacts in disturbed-mind. The reason for your disturbed-mind can be anything. When anger, hatred, jealousy, greed, fear, ego, lust etc. dominate a person's mind, then how much change occurs in his/her behavior. The difference between the behavior of calm-mind and the behavior of disturbed-mind is the right assessment of the person.
Have you ever observed the difference between the behavior of your calm mind and your disturbed mind?

I don't know if a disturbed mind tells you what you need to know about a person. But a disturbing situation, yes. You don't know much about anyone without a disturbing situation because it's the sheltered life of the great untested, which is why couples who don't argue are not in love.
If your mind is calm then you are half asleep. Your mind is always on the go and if that means disturbed, yes, it has too many things to process. And I am not saying it in a bad way. Meditation isn't a natural state of mind and if it means it is the only calm moment your mind can have I'd happily skip it.

bodleing2: Indeed, I recognise 'balderdash' when I see it.
I love that word....
Now, now, no need to look down on me, Bod. I also have the right to not accept your views. Whatever you believe is your own thing, let me have my own vision and experience.

It's not about having a view, it's about scientifically proven facts. Your post shows you have done little or no research on the subject of meditationn.

Do you know that there are people who can not meditate? Well, I am one of them. Meditation isn't my thing, can I live without it, yes, I can! Thank you!

There is no such thing as not being able to meditate. If you can breath, you can meditate. What really caught my eye in your post was when you claimed that when someone meditates they are half asleep. This shows how little you know about the nature of meditation, or the many conclusive studies into the effects on the mind of an experienced meditator.

Please, can you leave me alone with your preaching? I know the mind is not half asleep, I said it in regard that I prefer my mind to be bouncing and busy. To each their own. I don't need to meditate to be calm and fulfilled as I have no problem achieving it. I prefer my own ways of being...

First of all I disagree with the term ''disturbed mind'' in the context you are using it. Agitated would be a better description.
Secondly, having emotions/feelings and expressing them is not a sign of a ''disturbed mind''. The way in which those emotions are expressed are important though. A way of expressing one's anger for example could be to say (even shout) ''I feel too angry to talk about this right now'' and so even though the person feels agitated they won't ''act upon their anger to harm someone or be verbally abusive'' even though they feel angry. Same for other emotions. It's not feeling those emotions that makes anyone ''disturbed'' but rather how aware they are of those emotions and how they ''manage'' them.
The ''right assessment'' of a person is how they manage their emotions (Emotional Intelligence) not to never have emotions ... In my opinion ...
Well, the mind is never be 100% calmed, even while sleeping the mind is busy in dreams, it is completely quiet only when the mind becomes thoughtless. Goodwill or illwill comes according to whatever thoughts and feelings are in the mind at that time.
