jac_the_gripper: The word 'female' is more commonly used in a misgynistic way, don't you think?
When used as a noun, I feel like I'm viewed as livestock...and we all know that doesn't play out well after last orders in Wales.
Winner! Winner! Chicken dinner!
Common usage is by military and law enforcement, or other government/authority, used to dehumanize the individual, to diffuse any kind of emotional response from the enforcer.
Should we start using XY/XX instead?
Being in a constant state of offended, is a sign that the ‘programming’ is working. Because division on all levels is the goal. If we police speech, we silence criticism and opinions. We stifle ideas. We backslide.
Wait… this is starting to sound a bit too familiar. Where have I heard this before? Perhaps history might have a lesson or two on this…

More than a goal I don't know if being easily offended is just the natural course of development. My cat was basically fine after being hit by a car and losing a leg. No I just think civilisation is unnatural and when it peaks we get offended by anything. I think of it as the supreme inorganic more than an active conspiracy to take offence.

I disagree that it’s a ‘natural’ phenomenon. The lockdowns were a form of psychological torture. Forced isolation and disruption of routine in amongst our societies, was by design. We are still very tribal in our associations, but we claim to be civilized. Hence the incorporation of language to ‘other’ those we don’t necessarily agree with.
I admit, it’s difficult to get groups of homosapiens to agree on anything. Just look at how hard it is to agree on what we’re having for lunch.
A house divided cannot stand, is a truism. How better to divide than to have folks arguing about differences? Minutiae being the focus, as opposed to commonalities. Instead, differences should be celebrated, as they provide ample opportunities to discover new ideas, to exchange culture, to learn.
Morrissey just said some very poignant things about the diversity battle cry.
I think we’re seeing the effect, but do not want to address the causes. JMO
Tiger_Moth: If a man walked into a pub and said to the barmaid "Pour me a pint woman " that's classed as a misogynistic comment in this day and age. Rightly or wrongly it's still ill mannered and down right rude.
Get with the programme Ten and quit with the sarcasm.
Goodnight.
How sad the word that defines a woman is used to offend her. No sarcasm at all... But you're not a barmaid and we are not in a pub, and I'm a woman too.
jagtom: Woke nowadays refers to being aware or well informed in a political or cultural sense, especially regarding issues surrounding marginalised ...
bodleing2: At last, a clear and straightforward answer.
This is what Romy Dolgin thinks Bod. She's a graduate from Harvard and I like her thought process.
"So, I don’t want to be woke. I don’t want to restrict my definition of activism and intelligence to only include those who agree with me politically. I want to be open-minded and engaged. I want to be informed and passionate. I want to be an advocate and a human being beyond political issues. Maybe we can broaden the definition of “woke” to include these characteristics from both sides of the political spectrum, but until then I remain contently un-woke."

U know after swimming in sewage, muddy waters seems quite clean dunnit? Have to go to Harvard to figure that out? Looks like I saved a few bucks on my unused student loan then.

If only more would 'want to be an advocate and a human being beyond political issue.'

If you choose to swim in sewage that's your prerogative but I'd advice you to keep your mouth tightly shut.

If we were that tribal then we'd dead by 35 anyway. Lockdown was torture but we wouldn't have done it if we weren't civilised. It was a very expensive insurance policy for a very precious people. Second nature to have done it. China on the other hand is evil.
