Do you feel that when you are on the internet (and dating sites in particular) that you can be "whoever" you want to be...
Does the anonymity of being behind your screen allow you to be outspoken in a way that you could not be in "real" life?
Who do you believe you are you in "real" life then...the person you are daily...or the person you are on the internet?
And this thread does not mean to imply that you are "fake" in any way...there are many people who get to be who they in their hearts truly believe they are meant to be because they are in some way "shielded" by their monitor....
Although I'm sure there are many people who reinvent themselves on these sites, I personally don't see the point. If you do end up meeting someone based on a fabricated personality, it's not exactly a recipie for success is it?
When i first became part of the "internet" world...my biggest shock when i actually met people was their comment that i looked "exactly" like my picture....I was never sure WHO i was supposed to look like...
In my naievity....i thought one posted "recent" pictures...told the truth about themself...and met people because they were genuinely interested in a "relationship"....
Its not just a "bad" thing...some people just get more "confidence" because they get the opportunity to "think" before they speak here on the forum....
In essence they get to be who they perceive themself to really be without the "pressure"
both times i was told that, the second time at least i knew more what they were talking about. the first time i was a little ackward..he goes.."cant believe you actually look like that." he left it kinda open, so later i had him clarify. happens more then not i guess, not representing your photos well. beyond that im pretty much as i am on here..i smile and laugh alot, find the good things. try and sound intelligent if needed. little bit too blunt or straightforward at times, that could be lessened...would be save time trying to explain myself out of things.. its really not that hard to think before you talk...
Thanks for the heads up. Still relatively new to all this but did once meet someone who's photo was obviously at least 10 years and lots of beer and pizza out of date so I know I shouldn't be too naive
No I am entirely the same person on-line as I am off...If I say it here I would have no problem saying it to your face...I see no reason to change who I am just because I am on-line!!!!!!!!
SuperHero ? Me ? not I'ld want in a thousand Sundays..I'm content/happy being the one that does/says things others stand in the limelight to take credit for. I'm the guy who is walking away while another is being thanked for the deed done... I 'm the person who gains more satisfaction from doing then being told how good it was done,... I'm a common person .
I appreciate those "superheros" they are so needed.
I am just the opposite. I think to much before I write anything here. I am more outgoing and funny in person. I over think things I guess then scared to sound stupid when I write it.
