Ive given blood several times as well....easy thing to do..

You know.. In the UK only FIVE PERCENT of the people that can give blood.. actually do.

FIVE PERCENT
uh oh shock

I think that's shocking.. people don't think twice about accepting blood for themselves.. friends/family.

gasunshinegirl: I am an organ donor, as well as my body will be donated to Science for the studies in the Medical Field..

My husband passed away almost 2 years ago and his body was also donated to Science. Hopefully in the studies of his body they will find something which will help find a cure for Alzheimers, since he suffered with that for 6 years before his death.

Thats a brave thing for you to do hug

Yes, I also believe in organ donation and when my time comes they can have whatever they want of me if it helps someone else to live on. At least some good will have arisen from my death and I'll not have died completely in vain.

I know some people are really against it though as I've had discussions about it in the past in real life. The reasons they were against it were that they didn't like the idea of having their bodies mutilated after their deaths. Also, they think it's tempting fate to go on a organ register. Some, also think that if they're on a life support machine and have a chance of recovering that it will be turned off and their organs removed just because they happen to be on a list.

Each to their own way of thinking I guess wine

blue_eyed_blonde: or any other of your organs and be an organ donor???

I was just watching Oprah and part of the show was about organ donors...It showed the families of the donors as well as the recipents, it was so awesome to see the family of the donors as they met the person who their loved saved or helped. It just made me realize that I made the right decisions a few years back.

Imagine what a gift that would be to give of yourself to allow another to go on after your time has passed. The gift of a heart...
I made that decision 3 years back to donate my organs when that time comes. Just a thought....

Tha is something I WILL NEVER CONSIDER DOING uh oh

I am a certified organ donor. It even says so on my license. If when I die, someone can benefit from any part of my body, that would be a great thing!
People spend years hooked up to machines that sustain thier life waiting for transplants.
When I'm gone, my organs are useless to me. Why not give someone else the chance to live? It's a no-brainer to me. thumbs up
