I am not sure of this.. though it depends on the 2 people. Once a person has had feeling of Love for someone, i dont think it can be changed to just friendship.
But, if 2 people can actually make it to being friends , its going to always be like a special consideration for that person.

I've made this mention numerous times before:
They were my friend before I dated them & just because I'm not dating them any longer, doesn't mean we shouldn't be friends after the fact. Some of my closest friends ARE my ex's.

There may be a need for a "cooling off period" so each person can get back into their own routine, but in the end, maturity & respect can allow for a healthy post relationship, relationship.

I agree completely with one exception, if one of the parties is still in love and wants the relationship to continue it's really difficult until that person moves on with their life.
