3 days ago, i was at home and my SUV was in my driveway, and someone tried to steal it. i forgot to lock the drivers door and it looks like someone tried to use a screwdriver to pop the ignition switch or at least thats what the cops said. i just cant figure out why anyone would be so brave(it being in my driveway) or do they realize i drive a gas guzzler(ford exployer). anyone have anything like this happen to them?

Where I used to live, I had my truck window knocked out for $1.00 laying in the ash tray. Had the a**hole came to the door, I'd have given him a buck.
Then, one night I arrived home and thought something looked different on the patio. Some SOB had loaded up my porch swing (free standing). I have long since moved.

Must be a rich person with the price of fuel these days
jampet: no-ne in their right mind would try to steal my old jalopy! it looks like it's done hard rounds in the stock car circuit!!
Mine is definitely not in the most stolen category. I would have to leave it running in the street all night for someone to take it--except they'd probably leave a 'used car' business card and say they're sorry while laughing their ars off.
You are lucky that they think your car is good enough to steal, mine is so bad if somebody broke into it they wouldnt rob it but they would leave 20 quid on the dashboard for me.

I had a Chevy Astro van stolen from my driveway on Christmas eve. Went to get into the van to visit relatives on Christmas morning, and it was gone. It's a very strange feeling to see your vehicle simply vanish, especially when you know you were sober the prior evening, lol. I think I stood there for about 10 minutes thinking "Gee....where did I leave that thing?" . The thief drove it across town and abandoned it. Guess he needed to get home quickly to retrieve that coal from his Christmas stocking. Interestingly, the gas tank was empty, and he had to gas up. He left the receipt in the van with his credit card information! They arrested him 3 days later.

I often leave the keys in my SUV above the visor, and I seldom lock my house..
I've had two of my cars broken into three times......they cant steal it as I have a Steering lock on it so it aint going anywhere......but they did cause me distress as the broke the windows.....what a mess and a inconvenience to say the least....bad bad people....

Could you just be a pet and leave the cookie jar outside the gate for easier access........less stress for me....

Nice of him to refuel your van but not too bright by leaving the receipt. Bet he was kicking himself when he realised what he did. lol
