HealthyLiving: Just scratch the "secular" and this is also what I believe. To me it is a spiritual experience. We must all humble ourselves before all creation.
since you're a part of creation, how would one go about humbling oneself before oneself?

At the end of the day a religious person needs to believes that nature was created by a supernatural being where as an atheist does not and is perfectly happy to allow science to explain it while they are filled with awe, where it gets confusing is when the word spiritual comes into it , Einstein even used the word god to explain it while he was very clear that he did not believe in a personal god , he just used the word , you can see where it can start to be confusing !!!
"It was, of course, a lie what you read about my religious convictions, a lie which is being systematically repeated. I do not believe in a personal God and I have never denied this but have expressed it clearly. If something is in me which can be called religious then it is the unbounded admiration for the structure of the world so far as our science can reveal it." From a letter Einstein wrote in English, dated 24 March 1954.
Some may have luck at church, it is possible to have luck anywhere I suppose, but at church their are alot of people that that just play church, they don't live it but for you, it might work out, me personally I don't want someone that plays church. I want a beleiver like myself(Chirstian) different strokes for different folks..
HealthyLiving: It takes some work, Al. Death to self and selfish desires is the act. Putting God FIRST, Others SECOND and Me LAST!!!
This is Humility. (to me)
Love you dear, missed talking with you lately!!!!
Thats quite a mixer, you being part of all creation and finding a way to subjugate parts of it (you + others {leaving out other creatures as well}) as though they are less awesome ... that awes me too but, consciousness is a wonderful thing, with which one can fashion their own crazy world.
Do you ever wonder if you've fallen in a large vat of compote and got stuck there? Aunt Maggie's Compote Syrup?
who made god? This is the conundrum of making gods, you always have to make one with a higher power to be the maker of the one of lower power, and then another and another.

As most know, Einstein or no one else can influence my beliefs. I believe what I KNOW. I can only speak from my own experience. I will not disbelieve because Einstein did not believe. Neither will I believe because Jesus or any other Christian believed. I believe because of what I experience in my daily life with the Holy Spirit.
To those who have not have my experience or any of their own, they are free to believe as they will. I am not here to argue that.
I simply wanted understanding of what Athiest believe. I still believe that it comes from an individual understanding of what each perceives, not that the whole of Athiesism would believe exactly the same. Just as all Christians do not stand in agreement in everything.
fireliter: first I'll share this, a couple of people have used this ploy to get me to attend church. I am not ready nor do I want marriage ...at this time anyway.
What I currently "think" I want is all the nuances of a relationship without the bindings of the religious description of a good relationship. That meaning being "marriage minded ".
would you ever suggest for someone to attend church to find a "good woman/man"?
Nah!!! But you could go to church to find out all the "naughty"ones!!!
It's a 4 part thing: 1. attend church and start dating one of the "church goers" 2. take her out locally she will be sure to point out to you all the "bad/naughty one"!!! 3. religiously make notes of names and "stories" attached to each 4. break up with "church goer" and decide on plan of "action"

pew.
Al, I simply answered your question of how I would humble myself before myself. You did not ask me of other creatures. Of course I believe in UNITY with no only mankind, but all creatures and all of nature.
HealthyLiving: It would depend upon the individuals perspective. I myself believe that none are anymore worthy than the other, be it plants animals or mankind. Living in harmony with all of Nature and the Universe which encompesses us...
cool, then we can dismiss your previous hierchal order of humilty and praise!!!
