My little sister in South Africa. She is having to take care and supervise the care of our mother who has begun living in that Twilight world of the over 90`s - very difficult in a country that takes no real notice of the needs of the elderly. sad flower

That is quietly noble...It's not the big shakers and movers of the world we need applaud, but the little so called "insignificants" who keep our world moving as it should be. Bravo to your sister.

Truth speaking, there are many people I do admire for how they are and what they do for others....our King and Queen of Spain, all my native sisters and brothers (First People fo America) who still walk our traditional Red Path and guide our young ones to respect, love and beauty inside ; all single moms and dads who do a real good job with their kids and specialy all grandparents who have to raise their grand children for one or another reason; all people from around the world who sacrifice for the higher good helping wherever they can... personaly and or profesionaly....probably I could find even more, but this might give you an idea.

The elder brother of my last wife had to bring up his grandchildren when his son's wife died (the son could not cope) - then one of these kids, a girl, got married and had a child and then she got a very nasty fast acting cancer and she died (in her 20's) - and he and his wife had to look after this GREAT grandchild while their grandson worked to try and support himself financially....... that was/is just so very heartbreaking.

My mommy,

Always the first one I run to with bad news or good. She makes me peanut butter with toast when she is around and I am sick. Is a true momma bear who will defend me against any enemies (within and without), tells me off when I need telling off, praises me when need praise, loves me unconditionally, even when I don't deserve it. I love her, respect her, admire her and also get angry with her ALOT!!!. She's my best friend.

Of the active people trying in their own ways to make this a better world for their fellow humans, the two that comes to mind rather quickly are King Juan Carlos of Spain for finally telling that ill bred peon Chavez to shut his mouth,(his politics not withstanding). Long overdue that someone from his world speaks up. Second is someone that will not give up, will not negotiate and will not surrender a truly noble cause: Russell Means of the American Indian Movement who came to prominence with his band's armed take over of the Pine Ridge Reservation some thirty years ago and help off the US forces for 71 days. Today, he still is just as dedicated. Only his tactics have changed to accomplish Justice for the American Native populations.

Jan1305: It's the little people, getting on with the daily grind of life who are the unsung heros and heroines and more deserving of the accolades.

Seriously now: I have none to admire, that's why I am here - looking for somebody to admire.
Hope to stop receiving stupidities from men and the admiring part to start soon!

Dear Smoky, let's make some money out of the psychological needs of single people who play games.

Open a treatment center.

The person I most recently admire is the Mayor of New York City!

Bloomberg was interviewed in a tv programme called 'Hardtalk' recently and what he had to say was very interesting. He is a very clever man, but also a very sensible person who appears to tell the truth without denigrating other people. He's been talking to both camps (Obama and McCain) about what he believes they need to do with the economy when one of them gets into power. he is under no illusion that they'll take his advice outright but hopes whoever becomes President will take note of what he's had to say and take it into consideration when making the tough decisions all our leaders in the 'free world' have to make once they come to power.

He's made up his mind who he is going to vote for, but, as Mayor of New York, he'll have to work with whoever is going to get in so he refuses to say who he'll vote for.

He says he'll stand for a third term as mayor if the law is changed and the electorate want him - at least he has a sound track record and the finances of New York city are in good shape under his leadership.
