lovaboy: I totally agree....

I used to spend every moment that I possibly could, bantering on the forums.....then life outside caught up fast, so I had to make a decision to slow down a bit....

I also hid my profile a few times, due to feeling like my every move was being watched on the forums....Somebody even set up a dodgy profile with the name Lovaboy1, with the exact same profile details as mine....Needless to say the mods deleted it after I reported it....but still....when you feel like some cyber-nut is out to try and wind you up, and make life a little difficult, then that alone can make you lose a little interest in posting.

I was a regular on this site, and made loads of good friends...but being back here after nearly a year of going AWOL, Ive noticed a lot of the people who used to post, have disappeared, or deleted profiles...maybe the real world caught up with them as well.....

Good thread...

I hear ya buddy....been there done that for months..it takes the fun out of being here...which I know is the reason I am here and it's a shame cause a lot of good people seem to be targets of this type of B.S. and soon tire of it....wave wink hug teddybear hug bouquet comfort

In general I enjoy CS... or I wouldn´t be here. Saying that... there are times that I get frustrated because a good topic of discussion will come up and it will turn into silly one liners or personal conversations. That´s great for the "say something" threads, but sometimes it´s nice to have a real discussion.

I came back recently because I missed the forums.

But now I see that there are few left here who consider the feelings of others.

Even the moderators are bending the rules, letting some break the rules and cleaning up the evidence while scolding others who are simply making a joke.

I hope you all get a good laugh from my departure.

rizlared: I think its part of the original poster's responsibility to make sure that they reply to posts made by the less frequent poster, to include them into the conversation, it will encourage more posts and help to make the poster feel more included in the thread.JMO

This one is tough.
Some of us that have been here a while have seen it many times..
Trouble makers and the 2 faced dishonest people make 2 or more profiles/user names just to fight or disguise who they are...
So it becomes very hard to know who is real and who isnt...

I faced the same distrust when I first joined here and I got attacked.

Best thing for a newbie is to hang in there long enough to show who you really are.
put in the effort to make friends.. not just automatically expect everyone to be a friend.

I've been here long enough to make enough friends, and to make an effort to include the new people in on the conversations I start because they are the ones thinking outside the box, and may actually have something to say thats not preaching to the choir.

It's amazing how self-satisfied cliques become after a certain amount of time existing. Like their opinions are the only ones that matter. In that I find something to be sad about, because even Ivy League schools recognize the fact they need new blood to enhance their growth, or they just stagnate. Opinions stagnate the same way stagnant water does. In the end, they all do, unless they undergo Hegel's thesis-antithesis-synthesis process.

Welcome all the new people. Don't ridicule them. You could be chasing away the real love of your life with your stagnant, bitter opinions...professor

There's that, ship. But your intention is to chase them away, so of course you're the exception to the rule...thumbs up

Rexus: I see so many people join CS forums and then leave and only a few who always stick around. Wonder what could be possible reasons for people to lose interest in the CS forums?

Not trying to be judgemental but let's just brain-storm, if you like..
My reason is,if its not a religious or political forum,so everyone can tear each other apart,no one wants on it.I am sick of the name calling, the insinuations that if ur Christian, ur an idiot. And we cant read, think or know any history. So I just stay off of most of the threads, because unless I argue,I am ignored. roll eyes
