Another Day

The Irish rain is falling
And the hearth fire flickers red.
Morning coffee is calling
And it draws me from the bed.

A soothing jazz is playing
While potatoes cleaned and diced.
And the morning sky is graying
While the onions then are sliced.

The skillet spits and sizzles
As ingredients go in.
Melted butter drizzles
As the breakfast does begin.

Chirizo, cut and ready
As I cube some cheddar cheese.
All turned slow and steady
Can you get the eggs out, please?

The onions start to carmelize
And potatos start to brown.
Fresh pepper now to tantalize
As I turn the burner down.

Chirizo joins the party now
And sizzles in the heat.
A minute sitting I allow
Then flip it and repeat.

Now the eggs get scrambled in.
They thicken as I mix.
I add the cheese and stir again.
The settings now I fix.

So then I start the plating
And I gently spoon it on.
For I know my Lady's waiting
And I will not keep her long.

Two strawberries I add per plate
Red and sweet and tart.
At the table, then, I join my mate
Another day to start.

It's nothing much to write about
It's just your average day
And yet I want to jump and shout.
My lady makes me feel that way.

Thanks for all the well wishes and cheerful thoughts. I'm going to be heading back on Sunday and we're trying to squeeze every moment of our time together for all it's worth so neither of us have been on line much. smitten
