No Regrets.

I walk alone on golden sands,
caressed by a moonlit sea.
Salt scented breezes brush through my hair,
while snow capped waters kiss my hands.
Old memories echoing from ebony pools,
surrendered by exhausted tides.
Forgotten friends, they reappear
as tears fall like silvery jewels.
Those childhood years of long ago,
warm summers spent in harmless play.
Of Halloween and fireworks too
and Christmas trees with winters snow.
My teens, what joy of that first kiss.
lost innocence in tender arms,
with promise of eternal love,
those were the days I often miss.
Now the Autumn of my life draws near.
I hear the 'shepherd' calling me,
I am content, I'm satisfied,
his voice it calms my fear.

About this poem:
I was trying to make sense of my life and how I now look towards the next 'journey'.
I hope this poem doesn't come across as too morbid, it's an acceptance of 'what is and what will be'.

Reading the Poem and rereading it is startling to realize or rather emotionally experience that "life" at the end is but memories. Are we aware grandad when we start our life, what we actually do each day living it, is creating memories or do we wrongly think we live each day with the notion of leaving it forever behind us and therefore ignore treating it with respect.

A beautiful beautiful Poem, the end I would like to discuss with you, but will not, due to respect of your choice. Words in this Poem reached my heart, certain sentences made my eyes teary. I love that emotion, makes me feel alive and still very receptive for beauty.

Thank You. hug

Hi, grandad,
A life with No Regrets is a life well lived.
