Had I But Taken Left Not Right

Had I but taken left not right
How different things might be
A choice that's made in too much haste
A lifetime for repentance

So many times I sit and ponder
How different life would be
Had I but taken left not right
A choice that's now so clear

Too much drink, too many drugs
And all the late night parties
Life's for living, hang tomorrow
All too soon tomorrow comes

Hot of blood and passionate
Was the life I led
Hot of blood and passionate
Caused her death instead

Had I but taken left not right
And listened to some reason
Had I not drunk, had I not driven
This grave would I not be tending

Hi Steve, I guess there are a lot of people thinking this, for lots of different reasons. It only takes one bad choice to wreck a lot of lives sad flower

Hi, steve1223,
Some choices made are the right ones, others not. And to some, as this one, hindsight provides clarity where, unfortunately, the foresight of experience did not. A contemplative write.
