Ghastly Tale

To you a tale I will tell
A tale so dark and drear
A light in bed you will shine
Your body racked with fear

The covers tight about you pull
As my tale does progresseth
Heart it pounds, fingers twitch
And eyes round room a roving

In the shadows, what is that
I thought I saw a movement
Was that a claw on window scrape
A ghastly beast a gasping

Ghostly tendrils in corner rise
A sound, a wail, moan so eerie
Sweat it breaks upon your brow
Fear has taken over

Now you wish that I had not
Told my tale to you
I leave you now to cope with life
Adieu, adieu, adieu
