A Rose

A Rose

A rose was his heart to give
For as long as he might live,
For not another would he want;
He knew when to quit the hunt.

A red rose just like her cheeks,
Soft petals are her lips he seeks,
But once found he was then lost
And one red rose was the cost.

Through the years they lived in bliss,
Each day started with a kiss,
But then one day he'd not return,
A tragic end she did learn.

Then each year,the day they met,
Through tears she would not forget,
Proof his love for her still glows,
Upon his pillow lay one red rose.
