The Flower Thief and I...

We were walking along, she and I, when suddenly, she looked left and right surreptitiously and bent down and deftly plucked a bunch of beautiful flowers the municipality had planted all along the side-walk,
Highly illegal and subject to a nasty fine...
I was appalled, aghast, I gagged,
And, worse, I’m in love with this conscious-less flower thief,
Sigh..., such is our, shall I say, tempestuous relationship...

She displays many faces, some are ferocious,
Like an uppity desert-storm, the words get in your eyes and your soul, and they sting like chilli on your eyeballs,
Some are as cuddly as a new-born lamb, as she snuggles up to you and makes coy advances towards you, and you find yourself thinking:-
‘...is this the same woman...???’
Some are commanding, like a cougar in heat, and they always leave you used-up, and sporting the silliest of grins,
Some are soft and endearing, falling down on you like gentle snowflakes, as they caress your face,
Some howl, reminiscent of a gale swooping down on you, as you metaphorically scamper for cover,
Some are fun personified, as she bubbles over, her festive words filling the air, and cascading down your innards like the balm of Gilead,
Sometimes, she gazes deeply into your eyes, and you feel her very nucleus reaching out to yours,
And you spend a couple of hours in sweet communion...

Hi EGT,

I found your poem very uplifting...it lifted my spirits and I thankyou for that. Incidently the last time I heard the expression "the balm of Gilead" was when I read "The Raven". A bit of intextuality there. Thanks for sharing this one. thumbs up cheers
