Waiting

Waiting

I think of you and my lonely heart races
The images of you in my mind my soul chases
They fast forward into a frenzied blur
Memories and an unrealized fantasy stir

For our promised meeting I hold my breath
Dare I pinch, lest I wake to a dreams death
What you have set in motion, a dream so sweet
In which you're in my arms and now I'm complete

My heart has been broken, survived disappointment
Lived with the insecurity to find love and contentment
Life is fickle, on uncertain terms rides our fate
But for the promise this love holds, I will wait
