These cypriot men.
Author: Unknown
Family is his heart,
and all that he will strive for.
Working day and night,
if that is what is called for.
Gentle strength,in his silence,
when concerns lurk within.
Search an action to be taken,
so that he may begin.
Collecting mushrooms sweet contentment,
curve of mountain against skies.
His pleasure in the outside,
sleeping stars where he lies.
Hunting game is excitement,
animated stories to be told.
His football seals alliance,
he knows his place,in the world.
Cooked meat in his care,
taking stock from his seat.
joyous feeling in the moment,
children playing at his feet.

Happygolucky-you made me think from your comment, that perhaps this traditional Cypriot man has come to personify 'good men'in my mind, from my experience-of course good men come from other cultures too!But yes it should be simpler knowing who we are searching for..thankyou
Although I'm not sure their's many on here agoodguy!

love and light...
Earlgrey tea.....Maybe the problem is with the cypriot women and not the cypriot men....I speak from experience of course....but there is good and bad in every race, both male and female...Have a nice day...
Paloma-me too,thankyou.x
You can rob,and we'll cook them snuggled by the fire later
I lived in a village for years, and watched young cousins grow to men and women, and aunts and uncles age,in the last 18.
I see the above characteristics often in Cypriot men,who live on the outskirts of villages/in villages by mountain views.
These men are not modern minded, they are not interested in social change and the modern Cypriot women is trying to step out of her role as its very confined-hence the conflict you have come across.
I have been here 18 years, and it no longer bothers me that my opinion on worldly affairs is never heard(unlike newcomers). My role is mother, and daughter in law-was wife, and I am told often I do this well.
Its enough for me,and I have grown to love the old deep rooted culture here, and finally feel valued despite my foreign ways but I also understand its not for everyone..
I know of one good one..and a true friend..
Though I agree that good & bad are in all..no mater what culture they be..respect for different views with an open mind goes far..
Ljj..
