never regret the treachery of time

It is a vertical poem composed by Imam Al-Shafi’i, who is Abu Abdullah Muhammad bin Idris Al-Shafi’i. Among the most prominent topics covered in the poem are the following: the fluctuations of conditions for people in time, as there is no regret about that. The fluctuation of circumstances does not change the status and value of people. He mentioned some examples of the treachery of time, such as the ignorant sleeping on silk, while the learned sleeps on dirt. The poet's emphasis is that time has nothing to do with what happens, and it is wrong to criticize it, but the matter is up to human action. The call to be satisfied with destiny and destiny, and not to be afraid, as nothing remains as it is. The call to display the qualities of manhood and morals, and no matter how bad a person has qualities, he must cover them up with generosity and giving. The call not to gloat over enemies, or ask for a favor from a miser. Sustenance is written and destined, and calls for contentment and contentment. Songs I Love From 1985

Songs I Love From 1985

As we end another year I was thinking back to some good songs from the past. My favorite from George Michael who passed away on Christmas this year was Careless Whisper which was the number one song for 1985. We lost David Bowie, Prince, and Carrie Fisher this year. I looked at the songs from the last few years and I have nothing to take from 2016 to add to my music collection. Happy by Pharrell Williams was the last song I liked, and that was two and a half years ago in 2014.

Hippie Me By Paul David Powers

Hippie Me By Paul David Powers

People spend all their lives trying to run away from who and what they are. Just to find in the end that what they were is WHO they are as a person! I am a 60's hippie not with the long hair like I once had, but in spirit! And the woman I seek for this last journey is a Free Spirit Hippie Chick! If I have to give a definition of what a chick is outside of the bird reference, you're not going to understand. I think that the word today is simplicity! If you understand that are lives regional and not overseas. Contact me! Paul 240-522-6793

The Alternative Ending Part One

The Alternative Ending - Part One

This is a tribute to a writer friend who recently passed away from the big C, he led an interesting life where much of it was as a hobo and drug addict. I read much of what Rain wrote, and I was always amazed that he was still going strong, though strong is probably not the right word, but he was certainly still going. Charlie is my own invention, someone who spent his life as a no good bum, and had a tragic lonely demise. The sort of demise that Rain must have expected in his early days, his alternative ending. Unlike Charlie, Rain redeemed himself, met someone special, and lived his final days as a loved and respected writer. RIP.

All That Wonderful Music

All That Wonderful Music

I have been reading The Billboard Book of Top 40 Hits. It had every song from 1955 to 2000 that made it into the top 40 count down. When I was growing up in the 80's I would listen to Casey Kasem and Rick Dees count down the songs. I got a lot of good music from listening to the radio on Sunday afternoons. They still have the Rick Dees on 106.1 on Sunday from 7 to 11 am. The last part of this poem is from the Carpenters.

The Ride

The Ride

This poem is about a night leaving Tijuana, Mexico. My friend and I had parked on the American side and walked over in the 90's you could do that. On our way out she dared me to ride on a mechanical bull that was near where we exited. This was the experience from that ride. It is part of a collection of poetry that has been turned into a novel I'm looking forward to having published very soon.

My Ship Aint Come In Yet

My Ship Ain't Come In Yet

This is another poem inspired by my Uncle, even up until his death he often spoke of approaching death as a ship. Although he never spoke of it others in the family hinted that memories of a voyage aboard a slave ship was at it's root. I only know that he could not read nor write, was of undetermined age, and was one of the most amazing, unusual, and influential people I've ever known.
