this poem comes from the chinese tv series Romance of the Three Kingdoms. the poem was writen by Cao Zhi brother to Cao Pi. when Cao Pi took over as heir after Cao Cao passed away, Cao Zhi was under arrest by his brother Cao Pi. for not showing up for their fathers' funeral. so Cao Zhi was asked to take 7 steps and develop a poem by the time he stepped the 7th step. or he would be punished by marshal law. I enjoy this poem alot and it really has meaning and depth.
