There has been a lot of activity recently here on Poetry Corner. Several of the more senior poets seem to have taken a break. Let's hope they return soon. In the meantime, several new poets have appeared. This piece is a welcome to them. Poetry is larger than any individual or group of indivduals. The show must go on. I invite all poets, including the new, to post their views on Poetry Corner. We can all benefit from each others' views. Thanks!
Just my observation
I tried to write this poem in the style of some poems I learned and loved as a child. I have a special fondness for balanced rhyming poems. I think they are easier for children to learn. I believe it is important for children to learn the importance of honesty and I dedicate this poem to them.
(To those dealing with addiction - drugs, alcohol, etc., and a broken heart)

And if I should awake some day to find My dreams spread out like sheets of poetry Discarded, unread; workings of a mind That leaped and fell at every boundary Then what can I say but at least I tried To keep my aim upon the truer course And i
Perhaps, it is because of the experience of being broken by hurt, and the suffering that goes with it, in whatever area of life, that we are able to experience greater depths of happiness at a later time. Kahlil Gibran says: "The deeper that sorrow carves into your being, the more joy you can contain." Perhaps, it is within the very cracks of our brokenness that we can discover a new joy and beauty that we may not be able to experience if we were not cracked and broken. I wish to dedicate this piece to those who have experienced acute pain and suffering in their lives, whether in romantic love or otherwise. Remember the words of Kahlil Gibran!
Falling in love for the first time can be very exciting at the start But such love is usually not long-lasting and may lead to a broken heart A person whose heart has been broken seeks a love that is more mature When found such love heals the
The rugged bark of an old tree with imperfection due to its cracks is a wondrous thing of beauty and it's the imperfection that attracts We know that a star-shaped flower does not make a perfect star Yet it has a certain loveliness that indu
I wrote this poem for my nephew's eight year old daughter to encourage her to write poetry. She has an excellent command of English at her age. Writing this made me recall some of the poems I learned at school as a child. I hope I have succeeded, at least to some extent, in capturing the innocence and joyful feeling of childhood. I also hope it would bring out the child in some of you; I would like your comments from such a perspective since this is a children's poem. Or perhaps you can share it with children, get their comments and post them. Thank you!
Some folks like to complain And are very fickle They fume when rain is falling And fret at a mere drizzle Wild birds and animals They all need the rain Which gives them water For their lives to sustain The plants and the trees And all th

I actually witnessed this event. I wrote this piece after reading a poem entitled "Too Much Love Can Kill" which pointed out that several children from middle class families end up killing themselves through drug use or suicide after they move away from over-protective parental control which imposes a lot of pressure on them to be super achievers.
This poem is based on the Charvak philosophy of life, the first of its category which originated in India in 10th century BC and which denies the existence of God and Soul.
Miles and miles lie ahead being even and odd at places, having rise and fall on its ways in the horizon the path mixes. Unknown, sill unknown it is; the path is still undiscovered. it attracts me to be discovered and I am a mad on this roa
Many persons today claim to be spiritual but not religious, even at CS. I am curious to know the views of CS members on this topic and to share them with others. What do you think? Please comment especially if you are such a person!

It seems there are lonely people everywhere looking for the one person to fulfill their life; how many of you are genuine out there? How many of us will find husband or wife? If nothing else ever comes of this trial, At least I can always say
