Saxophones over Johannesburg

saxophones over Johannesburg
clouds in the champagne
let it rain
let it rain
for the regime must change

jazz in the hinterland
grazing in the grass
Mbaqanga
Mbaqanga
trumpets from Botswana

Stimela, Stimela
call of the coal train
brought them down
deep down
deep down
in the gold and mineral mines
of the metropoli

About this poem:
Listening to Hugh Masekela's Stimela, one of my favourite jazz compositions, the song is basic enough being just two chords but the trumpet playing is out of this world.

Cell Phone

I missed a lot on my trip out to California in 2019
I was by myself and I was scared
Scared of getting lost
Scared of bums
If I would have had a navigation system on a cell phone
It could have been more fun
Disneyland
Hollywood walk of stars
Lots of stuff around San Francisco
But I just stayed on 101
Drove to San Francisco and got lost downtown for an hour
Now I have a cell phone to help me navigate Maine
And all the stuff out that way
New York City maybe
But
I have to figure it out first!

Prepping for persecution

The thing is about these m-RNA vaccines
is that they appear to be non-specific in the site
at which they activate a cell response,
from the muscle the injected material enters the bloodstream
entering cells within the vascular system
which of course feeds the brain
a place where the coronavirus cannot enter
under its usual attack
being nose and throat,
and lungs if all doesn't go well
so as well as other cells in your body
your veins in the brain exude the protein as designed
which blood platelets lock onto, and can causing clotting, while your immune system is fighting the waste on the cell.
All in all its a bit of a gamble approach,
headaches described by many could be due to this clotting
which can have serious effects.
Some will die of the innoculation but they tell us its a greater benefit on balance.
Most but not all would get through this virus without tragic consequences
so do you take the risk or join the guinea-pigs?
Up to you, and how many times would you go through re-vaccinations until your luck runs out?

Anyway if you elect not to be vaccinated it will be interesting to see
how the persecution starts:
"You're irresponsible" ..really..,
"You don't understand" coming from a drone who got told what to say, I'll ask for their training in vaccine development and immunology..
"It went fine for me" ..well super for you, enjoy your highly strung immune system
Perhaps you will have travel restrictions. Vaccine passports?
Every experiment needs a control population, perhaps I'll join them.
Undecided, You?

pondering vaccination in a country where the cases are basically nil, there is a Government drive on to vaccinate.

Biden

First we had the left-wing media
tearing Trump apart for his tweets
of course they couldn't stand an aging white guy
expressing himself with modern technology
somewhat erratically you'd have to say at times
anyway the games up for him (or is it?)
but here we go
right wing media
turning any wince
any pause by Biden
into a case for mental collapse
he's 78 how about giving him some rope here
at least he's bringing America
back into emissions commitments
and did he rage at CNN's Kaitlin Collins?
well it was a forceful answer to a forceful set of questions
sure Putin's tricky
rarely answers a question without bouncing it back
to ask you to look at your record
and on we go
and on we go
is it easier just to turn the TV off
and forget US politics exists?

Transparency in Disguise

Secrets that were not secrets
Lessons that were not learned
Just how fallible are my thoughts
Deliberately distorting into knots

Secrets that were not secrets
Lessons that were not learned
Such is life but all is existential
Much an extravagant depiction

Secrets that were not secrets
Lessons that were not learned
That describes inevitable fiction
Shadows casting dubious doubts

Secrets that were not secrets
Lessons that were not learned
Where all truth becomes evitable
Posturing between all it flouts

Dog on a Chain

When they get you down
down on your knees
never buckle
never buy the sleaze
who'll be rising
in the morning breeze
from the firestorm
gimme shelter please

FIST HIGH
FOR LIBERTY GAIN
BURNING FLAG
DOG ON A CHAIN

Reagan

Watching Reagan on YouTube
chat show
smoother than I remember
folksy, late seventies
having just come out of Governor of California
he looked good
didn't look like he was pitching for the White House
but '81 was coming..

Launch of neo-liberalism
which is precisely why you don't have a job
or if you do it doesn't pay
how's that possible
from a former lifeguard?

I only remember the the assassination attempt
then the mental deterioration
I guess we should be grateful things went well
with Gorby
better than the current NATO encirclement of Russia
taunting the bear.

Masks?

I'm less than a week away from getting my second shot
Then it's two weeks to get away from being hot
From these masks that make you breathe in your own carbon dioxide
It is not worth trying to hide
I will not miss these blue masks
I have enough to do to make up my tasks
Just sifting through the endless crap that people spew out
It makes me want to scream and shout
What about other things that should have my attention
Wasting my time on germ retention
There are real things to be enjoyed that I am missing
Like love and joy and lots of kissing
So I wait in anticipation
For this hoax brought on by our nation
What will they think up next?
To try to get people from having sex

About this poem:
We got the word that starting in June there will be no masks required at work if you have your covid shots and have two weeks after, then they put a sticker on your badge. Those who are afraid of the shots have to keep wearing those darn masks.

In a Field of Dreams

In a field of full of our dreams
We may always look over our shoulders
And wonder how often our schemes
Become as hard to move as boulders

If only to gain some better discretion
Could ever have helped us make
We’d still dispute which direction
No matter which path we’d take

Things left unsaid are unclear
From even our best intention
Having no fear to say what is dear
Is leaving no seeds for contention

Why are we so completely insensitive
When our strongest desires are known
When we struggle in our own defenses
Looking for our shadows to be shown

Who are we mere mortals all the same
Never even a fairy to chase away
Who else do we have to blame
Just being who we are everyday
