Measure of Man

The measure of a man is not in his reputation
Unless it is the man who gives into temptation
Be careful the words you're speaking, what principles you're placing
Cause every single action has a day when you will face it
If you're keeping up with the times than you're already outdated
You think I'm lost in the clouds, but the clouds are where my faith is
For years I've been faithless, but for me that was basic
Dealt a life full of obstacles but I promise you I'll make it
The problem doesn't stress me it's the measures that I'm taking
Bad circumstances strengthen my determination
Don't focus on the money it's a product of my patience
Treasure ain't made of paper but of quality relations
The only guarantee in life is that it ends with you naked
So all of you that build check the ground where you're breaking
If it's possessions that you seek, than you fools are mistaken
True enlightenment is found way back in the making
Patience is a virtue, selected few earn the product
I dedicate my time and submit to the process
Acknowledge if it's fate, ain't nothing that can stop it
So I swim against the current and disregard all the comments
It's an interesting dilemma when all you have is options
I'm too talented to fail, execution's almost flawless
I fell too many times that I learned to be cautious
Risk is neccessity there's no excuse for any losses
Sleep on me now but I prefer you subconcious
It's better if you woke, you can witness the colossus
They'll speak to me for ages or remain in mental cages
The early bird gets the worm, the one sleep gets starvation
A lot of times in life it pays to be couragous
But speak in certain phrases and get no admiration
They'll phase you out in stages, left in isolation
The house is looking spacious but the barn is where you made it
I'm thankful for his patience, God really has arrangements
About to serve him only and never get complacent
If I get too outta placement, remind me of this statement
I owe the man my life, so my life I will pay him

Ardor

Each night while I slumber

She creeps into my dreams

Out from backdrops of blue and umber

In a shroud of red and yellow beams

She’s hypnotic in her particular motion

As she dances to the rhythm of the backbeat on a hang drum

She bewitches my heart and ensnares my soul

And takes her plunder with the morning sun

Leaving my energy black as coal

As she disappears beyond the dreamscape shore

And in me burns but one fierce desire

To close my eyes and return to REM

So that I may see her, if only once more

Spring

Once again spring is on her way
gone are the icy fingers of winter.
Birds are busy building their nests
buds on the trees ready to bloom.

Long days beckon the sleepy sun
to spread her warmth to the lands.
Eagerly plants spring back to life
bees and butterflies flit around.

At last there is colour once again
gone the drab grey of winter.
My heart lightens with such joy
singing along with earth's beat.

Everywhere I walk on these hills
I see signs of life springing up anew
The moors full of lambs bleating
and skipping with heartfelt delight.

Autumn Blushes...

Majestic autumn welcome home,
As summer yields to slumber,
To flaunt your leafy vibrant hues,
Of yellow, gold and umber.

From whence do all your colours come,
That paint your wondrous scenes,
Do fairies brush from pots of gold,
And daub the failing greens.

An Ivy drapes across the wall,
Some leaves have turned maroon,
Did some warm droplets trickle from,
That haunting blood red moon.

The woodland dons an auburn dress,
With flecks of brown and Dun,
And shades of Amber stolen from,
A falling evening sun.

The days grow short, cool nights are long,
As forests shed their leaves,
Sharp sickles fell the ripened wheat,
In rows of golden sheaves.

The Squirrels start to gather food,
Migrating birds are still,
God's creatures all prepare their homes,
For Winters icy chill.

Behold the seasons russet hues,
This variegated spree,
So cast an eye and celebrate,
Such pure Autumnity.

Christmas won't be Christmas

This Christmas, I'll not put up the tree.
I'll not put up the outdoor lights
Put up those
Big bright red bows.

Maybe I'll get out my summer clothes,
Take a trip where
The snow and cold won't find me..
Lie beneath a tall palm tree
Where I can't see,
A single brightly lit Christmas tree..

It'd be just fine with me.

Or think about, how we loved this Season so.
We'd put on those silly Santa hats and bows
Wear them into town,
Make everybody laugh and smile.Hey,
weren't we the happy clowns?
Wish everyone A Merry Christmas,
Everywhere we'd go
And slip on the ice laughing
When we'd both fall in the snow.
Just one short year ago?
Just wish I could
Relive those days again..
But sadly,
Christmas just won't be Christmas,
this year,
Without you.

A Field Worker's Soil

Come kiss heaven's hand and give a warm embrace;
Soil the roots of wisdom unto this desolate earth.
A barren land you blisfully sow high hopes,
plant with joy a prosperous toil reaped with dirty bones.

Sacred be your pastures green labored hard and long;
Blessed are the grounds in which you now step upon.
For valued is the meadow that your hard-work built,
nothing is ignored now for decent work dispels all guilt.

The spirit does appreciate burning blood and tears;
and blistered hands of effort-fetched by arduous years.
Rewarded be the sweat of a field worker,
for bountfiful is the fruit of his labor.

About this poem:
Most people (ignorant, so to speak) immediately assume that all hispanic immigrants are good for nothings, that they belong in the rice fields. Little do they know, hispanics in general are labor ready workers, hard-workers, willing to sacrifice whatever it is necessary to provide their families with daily food. They're underpaid and disrespected, this poem was written in honor of those great men whose fruit is the product of their labor.

A Healing Woodland Stroll...

On harried days when our world seems unkind,
There lies a place my senses crave to be,
Within the shady forest wild and free,
To ease the burdens of my troubled mind.

I soak much joyous sounds the Wood bestows,
Absorbing dawn aubades each songbird sings,
While zephyrs murmur notes like cello strings,
Beneath a harsh cacophony of crows.

Infectious woodland scents I fondly yearn,
A wily pungent fox peers with unease,
The sweetness of the wildflower on the breeze,
Against the bitterness of trodden fern.

A rotted branch falls crashing to the floor,
As Nature shows its sudden crushing powers,
Two butterflies then kissed some purple flowers,
Such gentle grace that startled me much more.

A speckled thrush begins her fledgling wean,
In search of food they squabble in a fume,
A worm to share with raised and ruffled plume,
She watches proudly o'er in perfect preen.

These wilds intoxicate me as I stroll,
The need for drugs or liquor I decry,
Near Nature I am naturally high,
As Gaia lulls me to her leafy soul.

Dusk slowly looms as daylight moments wane,
Return I must to cruel society,
The healing woods restored much piety,
My ailing mind refreshed, and freed of pain.

LOVE 2 TXT

The words I write are of a romantic side of myself
to be revealed to a select few
who are cherished as they cherish whom
I have this need to love and be loved
to hold in my arms the one that melts my legs from beneath
that sends my spirit soaring above, beyond mortals
to a spiritual plain of exsistance
where our very souls will touch
and the unlimited boundaries of our love will be reached

Space granted, please reCOOPERate

My beloved, my soul
I know, that it’s rare
Most folks don’t permit
Their loved one’s, self-care

Innerstand, my dearest
I’m not like the others
Striving, to be the gentlest
of the sisters, and mothers

Homeostasis, is the goal
For spirit, mind, & body
Being true to you
Supports, being happy

When I love you, my heart
I pray that you see
“I love you”, that means
You are allowed, to roam free

It’s okay, don’t be sorry
I’ll not foster fear
Anytime, you need me
My love’s, always here

I release you, from pain
Shame and guilt, unbind you
Expectations of others
At long last, behind you

Come and go, as you please
For you are, a free man
To leash or own you
Is never, my plan

I love you, to freedom
There are no conditions
I respect you, and honor
Your most sacred mission

This love, innerstand
Is not like, you’re used to
Whenever you’d like
I’ll gladly, seduce you

Hun, just let me know
When it is, you need time
Trust and believe
I get it… that’s fine

How can you expand
If someone, constricts you?
When you exercise freedom
I won’t cuss, or convict you

The process of growth
Takes both, time and space
To thine self, be true
No need, to save face

Needs of mind, body, spirit
These, I innerstand
It’s why I support you
And give you, a hand

It’s true, I have challenges
Certain, limitations
Which I pray, that for you
They cause no frustrations

I just need you, to see
My way of, adoration
Imparting you peace
Room, for contemplation

Loving me, is a dance
That moves, to and fro
When it’s right, hold me tight
But when needed, let go

Inhale, slide in close
Fall into me
Exhale, step back
Take space, & fly free

Expansion, contraction
Rhythm, to all those existing
If I love you, just right
I’ll gain more, than mere kissing

Tis my hope, in your life
I’m neither lesson, nor season
Spirit manifested my prayer, as you
For a reason

I cherish you, deeply
For you are, a treasure
More than a friend
Gratitude, beyond measure

Communication’s, the key
Being you, I’ll not punish
For to hinder or change you
My love, that would tarnish

I’m in love with you, just as you are
Your darkness, my night sky
Your love’s brilliance
My star

You, are a gift
I shall not, have you bound
For the love, that I give you
It must be, profound

About this poem:
Basically explaining to this man I was dating
the way in which I love, Giving him permission
to be himself 100% without judgment, and the freedom
to come and go as he pleases.

He wasn't used to that, and the message wasn't sinking in.
So I wrote him this explanation
