thats the problem , now telecom have gone XT no service in my house . Used to be , in a square about a foot size on my table . I had to put the speaker on and not move the phone . Can't stand going up to the ridge above my house any more as I did it for 8 years I think . Got very used to having the phone inside for a couple of years. 3 gb costs $ 112 gone down abit since I signed up with wireless nation , started with bigfrog they stopped then tuaropaki they stopped , getting sick of the changes . My house is behind a hill to keep it out of the wind . House was built 1890 , no phones to worry about then . You seen our news today , troopy dead in Afganistan . Army not saying why . There is a comment about mental health in the news about it , bit sad as he was to come home soon .

It would not divulge any details of the soldier's death, but it is understood that the official inquiry is treating it as a suspected suicide. The soldier was taken to hospital but died about 11am, New Zealand time.
"The death was not the result of combat action and does not appear to involve the actions of another party," said Defence Minister Jonathan Coleman.
and this
Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant General Rhys Jones confirmed the soldier died yesterday and an investigation is underway Corporal Hughes was deployed with the NZ Provincial Reconstruction Team in Bamyan, Afghanistan in September 2011. It was his second rotation in Afghanistan.
“Corporal Hughes was a rifleman from 1st Battalion Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment, based in Linton Military Camp.
“He was coming towards the end of a six month deployment to Afghanistan serving with the New Zealand Provincial Reconstruction Team in Bamyan Province. The contingent is due back in New Zealand later this month.
Spent the afternoon with a fellow I have worked with over the last 6 years. Very much work related but a lot of drive-time for work related items and made time to be able to discuss many things.
He is Chinese-Malaysian and said he has never understood why we celebrate ANZAC Day when we had soldiers die in some foreign country (Gallipoli) and the conflict did not really involve Australia.
I said that this not not to celebrate a war of heroes who died "for THE Empire" but to acknowledge the futility of fighting and to remember those that have fallen to defend peace.
He said that he had never heard it put this way before and that he felt he had more of an understanding of what ANZAC Day really means.
For the soldiers that have served in the many conflicts around the world, I do appreciate what you/they have done and sacrificed so that we can feel safe at home.
A quick Google search will tell you cell phone boosters or cell phone repeaters are the way to go to solve bad cell phone signal issues. Those stickers and other solutions that are “passive” are all garbage. You need something that is “active” and amplifies the signal which is what a cell phone repeater is. Another term for a cell phone repeater is a BDA or bi-directional amplifier. For home users, you can even buy cell phone signal repeaters at electronic stores like Fry’s or Best Buy. They are cell phone amplifiers that amplify the weak signal from cell phone towers. Usually you stick an antennae on your roof that pulls the signal in, which is connected to the amplifier inside your home which amplifies the signal, which is then connected to another antennae inside your home that your cell phone connects to. Here is a diagram of how a simple cell phone repeater system works:
I have 2 pairs of glasses now. I bought a pair 7 years ago and went for a new pair 3 years ago. Talked into it by ex GF as she needed new glasses and I thought I should have mine updated as closeup stuff was becoming a bit fuzzy. New glasses, bit more trendy. But only suitable for up close work, especially when trying to read in bed. I use my older glasses every day for work and on the computer, general reading, and anything else I really need to do. I only ever use my new glasses for reading in bed as they are only good for very close stuff.
My health fund allows me to get new free ones each other year and maybe I should take advantage it. But if everyone just uses the opportunity, the premiums will go up for everyone just for the sake of fashion.

My health fund allows me the same, so I also have a couple of pairs, one for work reading and computer, and one just for computer a fair distance away...
I have had the same glass rims since 2005 because I bought Danish Titanium, as light as a feather, and paid about $800 for them.. but I change the glass prescriptions, but not the rims...
works for me.. but I will change the rims soonish, only because I am sick of red... and will prolly keep the next set for umpteen years too... so yes I am not frugal, but sorta at the same time...
I prefer to buy excellent quality, not just mediocre, and I will happily pay a fortune, but then I make it all last..
e.g. I have a skirt that I paid $600 for in early 1990's, but I wore it until a couple of years ago frequently, and would wear it still if I ever decided to go out the door... so to me that is being frugal.. Does anyone else do stuff like this???

No but my mother-in-law did
She was always bragging about having bought her clothes at places like Flether Jones which, she said, is why they lasted so long.
My thoughts were it was time she went shopping as they were about 30 years out of date
