sofarsogood74: She could just sign on under about 5 different names like most tinkers.

is that what they do?conversing
Aug 4, 2012 12:38 PM CST Which Payments should be cut to save money and what shouldnt be touched
sofarsogood74: Of course it is. Most dont have birth certs, and they can't read or write. So they go down to different dole offices when they look 18 and sign (with an x) on.

Then they collect their dole from different post offices on the day they get it. They get at least a grand a week on the dole most of em.

I would start finger printing them and using their finger print to sign on. Its cheap technology now and it would stop them getting it from 5 different places under 5 different names!

I've no doubt a few of them are at that yes but what makes you say most are at it? you might see travellers with nice new cars and wonder how they are able to afford this and them on the dole...they buy these cars on hire purchase mostly from england...pay for them and drive them for a few months then leave them back when they can't afford it anymore..i know 1 settled traveller family whose son was driving a new top of the range mercedes..the car would turn heads..big rims and tinted windows..a savage car..he had it a few months and had to take it back..hes on the dole
Aug 4, 2012 12:50 PM CST Which Payments should be cut to save money and what shouldnt be touched
sofarsogood74: If you buy a car on hire purchase and you return it you still have to pay the difference in the value when you bought it and the value it is now. With a top of the range Merc it would be a huge amount.

They are all at it. Where I grew up there are lots of tinkers. There is a halting site plus some of them have houses. None of them ever worked a day in their life, never paid tax and never contributed to society. But they are always whinging and demanding what they are "entitled to". They all drive new cars or nearly new cars. They always have wads of cash too.

Fingerprint the lot is what I say. And if you dont wanna be fingerprinted you dont get the dole!

well i know for a fact that how some of these travellers are able to have such fancy cars..they get them on hire and leave them back after a few months
Some settled people scam the dole too..I know of a girl who claimed her sisters social welfare payment when she was 16 for 2 years until she was 18..her sister was 19 and had left the country..she dyed her hair blond to make her look like her too
yeah some kind of finger print technology would stamp out social welfare fraudthumbs up

TwinkleStar_70: I did had full time job, but was let go! like other's people, now working p/t, but still hard! but often need to help my folks on the farm. and same with my brother, he there full time! but get crap money. dad don't pay him much lol!

Ah that's grand! Because Dad pays bad money and saves his money to become wealthier, which will be inherited by ye,and petrol is expensive and your rent is 100 quid a week, I will from now on argue that for the like of you we should add 100 euro extra onto the dole! Poor you!

sofarsogood74: How could the dole be 98.43 EURO in 2000 when we still used the PUNT????
He's spot on. It was IR£77.50 = €98.40 equivalent

A year or two before that, I used to be able to share a house in Fairview, Dublin with 2 others for just under IR£150 (€190) a month. About 5 years later by pure coincidence I ended back there one night after a night out and the people that rented, said it gone up to €300 a month each. And rents kept rising for years after... dunno

Has anyone any decent sites for streaming games?

Would love to stream the United game tonight.[b) I refuse to pay for ESPN as i already am paying for Sky. Sky and ESPN are basically the same company , owned by the same man but instead of giving us all the games on SKY for what we pay he has split them up so we have to pay for SKY and also ESPN.....The greedy so and so. Thread probably wont last long as streaming i think may be wrong

Your words not mine..

That quote is not from me and its from Jan 2010

You actually went back 2 and a half years to find some quote????? You must have plenty of time on your hands!!!! Sad Sad Sad Sad

And as I explained ESPN is NOW FREE with SKY.

1...I was up front about what I was going to do to mc before the event. I'd do the same again under the same set of circumstances.

2...THe thread I posted quoting you was 2yrs not 8 as you suggested (my maths is better than yours it seems, I can at least subtract)

3...I'm not bothered about foregin companies. Ireland has enough natural resources to take the hit on the chin. And the oil/big compnaies didn't leave other countries where their contracts were ripped up..Why would Ireland be the exception to the rule?

4...Oil companies are screwing Ireland. What plunged the economy into nose dive was when the tiger ran out of steam. And people had borrowed beyond their means (any fool could see it wasn't going last). THey went cap in hand to europe like beggars instead of sorting the mess out themselves. Iceland managed it within two yrs.

5...All I can see is people talking about hitting the poorest in their pockets. Why not hit the rich first? France are going to hit them (anyone who earns over 1million pays (soon will) 75%tax).

6...Again if foregin companies were employing Irish people as you claimed why is the unemployment rate so high? I'd hazzard a guess and say becasue they are employing foregin nationals at lower pay rates (and they (foregin nationalals) in general send the profits back to their homelands..

What do all those pricks (TD's (most are if nothing else)) do except pay themselves large salaries and even more expenses..Not a lot. Like I said if they were any good at leading then they should lead from the front and take cut (or hit) before someone on peanuts.

This time try to answer with out getting personal (do you think you can manage that)..?

And Ireland today isn't owned by the Irish but my the 4th Reich.

The €420,000,000,000+ Ireland is giving away

Vast quantities of gas and oil have been discovered under Irish waters in the Atlantic Ocean over the past 15 years. The Government’s figures put the value of these reserves at €420 billion (€420,000,000,000), but this is a very conservative estimate. The real figure is likely to be much higher, especially as the global price of oil and gas rises (see explanation below*).

So what will the Government be spending these new-found riches on? The answer is: Nothing. This wealth will be leaving Ireland, thanks to a deal made between the corrupt Haughey government and multinational oil companies. Minister Ray Burke (later jailed for corruption) changed the law in 1987, reducing the State’s share in our offshore oil and gas from 50% to zero and abolishing royalties. In 1992, Minister Bertie Ahern reduced the tax rate for the profits made from the sale of these resources from 50% to 25%.

Rip up the contracts and re-divide the wealth with Ireland getting the lions share and all the debt is paid in one go..Basic economics.

Most oil and Gas in the Etlantic off our Coast will stay there. There is not the technology to drill that deep and where they can drill it will be costly. Thats why its still there!!!!!!!!!laugh

How is it that people in Northern Ireland can survive on £60 a week social welfare and people in the republic say they can't survive on well over twice that amount...The cost of living is slightly less in NI but not all that much less then what it is in the republic so it would make sense to say the republics welfare rates are grossly inflated..at the minute there is no incentive for somebody to go and find a minimum wage job when they could just sit on their arses all day and get 188 euro handed to themconversing
