Most the times no but to be fair i must say that once they

Most of the full-time and reserve law enforcement officers that I know are more concerned about their public pensions than they are about law enforcement or defending the public. Few qualify to use guns and other defensive arms.
But they have huge egos!

Guzzy, using the word problem can go in many directions.
In the U.S. the oath of a police officer is "To Serve And Protect The Public".
It's not their job to "fix your problems".
If my problem involves someone trying to perform a criminal activity on me of course I will trust the police.
If my problem is my checking account balance is low, it's not their problem.
There are good cops and there bad cops.
To judge all of them by what the bad do is unjust.
In the U.S. the oath of a police officer is "To Serve And Protect The Public".
It's not their job to "fix your problems".
If my problem involves someone trying to perform a criminal activity on me of course I will trust the police.

When you've witnessed police officers doing wrong right in front of your eyes you tend to lose trust.
There very well may be some good cops but not from what I've witnessed.
It's a shame when citizens lose trust in someone.

I guess after living in Mexico and watching blatent pay-offs and things like that, I have a natural distrust. I dont think the Canadian police force is nearly as bad however, I know that corruption happens here as well.
I think it kind of goes with the territory. Some people just cant be trusted with power. But I think thats true of everyone, Like CC said...Look at politicians.

Of course they can't solve all your problems, only security in the streets and roads, these problems.
As I wrote above, it's not a question of being good or bad persons but trust or distrust their service, the result of the job that all of them do.

Mostly not, but I have to say that once, someone got on the roof of my house (2 am) so I did call the local police and they arrived in about 5 minutes and jumped into my house with long arms and they did check all my place, including my garden (big one at that time) until they made sure no one was there. I was grateful they did it.
