Did you ever see the movie "District 9"? I watched it this past weekend.
So many believe there is life on other planets, and maybe there is, but they don't stop to realize that "other life" may not be like life as you know it.
I can't seem to find a YouTube link that will post so I'm not sure if this will come across correctly. If you are interested, look for "District 9".

Yes, with all the millions and millions of stars out there it is much more than likely that life evolved elsewhere. As you said, it is also very likely to be entirely different life forms. Carbon based, silicon based, or simply energy fields, you name it. Or perhaps very similar to earth, but not dominated by apes! People always suspect reptiles, but even goats could have evolved better in different conditions.
However, I do believe that the distances between us forbids contact, unless they have much better technology than us, which is also possible.
There is plenty of evidence that points to being visited before. Things like cave paintings depicting flying objects. Even the Greek and Germanic gods suggest something fishy! They certainly did not act like gods!

Sadly, its been so stomped on by now we will never know the truth. If there is any truth to the stories it would have incredible impact on mankind. Shamefull that the truth has been long buried.

The Germans had been working on a flying disk with jet motors on its rim . The last time the engineers had been seen the were waiting to be flown of a strip just before the Russians were due to turn up . Alot of Germans were taken to the US to work on different things . Could be that whatever crashed had been one of these disks .As for little green men , not effing likely .

Well had we here not had the dark ages we would be colonizing space now. So who is too say that somewhere out there in space some other life form missed the dark age time we had and may even be older then we are also. Just look at the difference the last 100 years has made in tech. Also consider tech doubles in speed and ability every 18 months now.

Well I read there was a fabric of sorts they found at Roswell. It was a weave of some kind of metallic fabric that was thin like tin foil. If you crushed it in your hand it sprang back to shape in your hand.

Yes, it was a very advanced weather balloon. Capable of interstellar travel at several times the speed of light.
Actually the best one I heard was that it was an experimental Russian craft filled with deformed children and midgets, crashed on purpose; with the intent of confusing and panicking the Americans with the charred remains of the passengers.
