One should gain wisdom & responsibility as one ages, but that doesn't mean one MUST think, act, or look according to some ridiculous unwritten law of a "socially acceptable" way.
i look my age,,,, i think like a man who has lived a hundred lifetimes. and i act like a kid who sees everthing brighter than it is. i understand a lot about the world but act like a huge goofball.
I resent being told that long skirts are "Too old" for me and short skirts are "Too young" and I have to wear knee length skirts because that's what middle aged women wear and I have to get a haircut because middle aged women bla bla bla. It's all Bull. I want to have long hair and wear hippie clothes and that kind of look is ageless. there are teens and grannies who wear that stuff and there are even office hippie clothes. And clothing is just one item on the checklist. People always say to sit still and then when you're good and old, they tell you sitting still for so long that your body deteriorated and you have to take diabetes drugs that screw up your heart or sleep drugs that make you walk the streets in your PJs because people have to sleep at NIGHT. There is a whole world full of bullies out there trying to tell you what to do. People need to learn skepticism and to question so called authority. That's what it all boils down to.

I believe we all have an inner child and it is fun to let it free sometimes so i do confess to not acting my age on occasions it is just nice to do childish things as long as you are not hurting other people i see no harm in it.My mind is still very young it is my body that lets me down as i no longer have the energy of youth.

I wear what is comfortable and smart but i am not bothered about keeping up with the latest fashion, with my size and shape i would look awful in a mini skirt and heels lol.

I don't look "frumpy & over-the-hill," but I think I look like I'm in my forties. So I look my age.
I've made plenty of mistakes on my way to 46, and I'm not looking to go backwards, so I mostly "think" my age and "act" my age.
However-- IMO being silly and spontaneous are not excluded from acting my age. Or any age. It's just that now I know when and where to control my impulse to be too silly or too spontaneous.
I have no trouble letting it run wild when the conditions (and the company) are right.

I was grossly immature and stupid until I was 23. Then over night I had more wisdom than most men that were 40.
when I was young, I passed for older, between age 33 or so and up til a few years ago - was getting carded when I purchased beer or wine or walked into a bar. Ha! Looking older when younger and younger when older is supposedly a trait of Capricorns.
I feel like I'm in my thirties. Tho, I know better due to all those years of life and my bad knees.

It depends on my mood or the company on how act and think but for the most part, I try to find the humour in most things. People have told me that I look younger than my years although I don't see it myself.

I did too! Even when I was a kid people thought I was a teenager and I always looked older than I was and was "very mature for my age". Now I look younger than I ever have, but I still think I'm very mature especially when I see some of the people around me. However, I can still act silly when the time is appropriate. lol
pedalguy59: You are in your prime, I tend to act like a teenager at times, even though I'm in Old Fart territory.
Thanks. Health problems have brought me down many notches physically, but hasn't messed with my maturity, the way I think or act. As far as looks go I may look the youngest I've ever looked, but that doesn't mean it won't catch up to me one day.
