Religion is a pathway for life created by the wise men of civilisation that knew Human nature far more than people today in our skin deep and disposable culture of instant gratification, social autism and suppressed intellect.
The problem of religion is that it fails to update as our potential for understanding expands. Patriotism is the inherent successor to religion, it is likewise a pathway for life and a sense of shared-community(in-groupism)like religion, but without the anti-science and cultural rigidity that comes with religious doctrine. Patriotism is the union of classic wisdom and modern science.
The bible? Which bible? If you are referring to the King James version - it was commissioned by the king. It drew on texts that had been written over preceding centuries from various parts of the world. It omitted whole books that did not suit the prevailing status quo and it re-wrote texts to promote what was in the best interests of the status quo.
Was 'the bible' created by government? No the KJV was created from earlier texts. Was it compiled and edited with a particular political stance? Very much so.
you are right only for that lot of person make artificial god in this world. like river god, sun god, tree god, air god, fire god, statue god, att this is creation of God, not God himself,

I cant believe you actually believe that?!?
My mother fed me in her womb, through the umbilical cord, not any god.
I know your god has much power, he can make you do what he wants so your clerks and your church can make more money and more power
Why does every radical Islamic extremist have to peddle his point of view every time someone approaches the God factor? The question Was the bible created by government? If the governmental body at the time who was the church and fundamentalists of 1611 under King James then yes it was organized and transliterated by the monks of that era. Many claim there are other testaments out there deliberately taken out. The Mormon's have a different testament based on Joseph Smith during the 16th century who wrote about various testaments of other saints that are never spoken of in conventional churches. The catholic church in my opinion is probably the most powerful and controlling church on the planet. The protestant church is the second most powerful and all those in between are spinoffs built on a foundation of selective verses within the bible. That why we have so many churches in America. All roads point to Jesus and God according to the bible. When we read the old testament there were all kinds of references to social order and govt policies established by kings of every known tribe. Israel had King David and King Solomon and their appointed officers and delegates to run the children of Israel. All other tribes like the Canaanites, Hittites, Jebusites, Ammorites and God knows how many other (ites) spoken of also had their government social order. Nothing is new under the sun. The theme has been passed down for eons. We talk about separation of church and state but honestly, I think in the end the church decides what goes down. Today the world as we know it and was predicted 2000 yrs ago regarding the final battle between two religions is upon us and one is working quite vehemently to overthrow the other. While one is still debating over who said what and when and how it is was transliterated the other is pushing it's dogma on the world by threat and terrorism. I find it rather unique indeed.
Philosophy is the goal toward which religion was only a helplessly blind groping. The grandeur, the reverence, the exalted purity, the austere dedication to the pursuit of truth, which are commonly associated with religion, should properly belong to the field of philosophy.
It has often been noted that a proof of God would be fatal to religion: a God susceptible of proof would have to be finite and limited; He would be one entity among others within the universe, not a mystic omnipotence transcending science and reality. What nourishes the spirit of religion is not proof, but faith, i.e., the undercutting of man’s mind.
Religion’s monopoly in the field of ethics has made it extremely difficult to communicate the emotional meaning and connotations of a rational view of life. Just as religion has pre-empted the field of ethics, turning morality against man, so it has usurped the highest moral concepts of our language, placing them outside this earth and beyond man’s reach. “Exaltation” is usually taken to mean an emotional state evoked by contemplating the supernatural. “Worship” means the emotional experience of loyalty and dedication to something higher than man. “Reverence” means the emotion of a sacred respect, to be experienced on one’s knees. “Sacred” means superior to and not-to-be-touched-by any concerns of man or of this earth. Etc.
But such concepts do name actual emotions, even though no supernatural dimension exists; and these emotions are experienced as uplifting or ennobling, without the self-abasement required by religious definitions. What, then, is their source or referent in reality? It is the entire emotional realm of man’s dedication to a moral ideal. Yet apart from the man-degrading aspects introduced by religion, that emotional realm is left unidentified, without concepts, words or recognition.
It is this highest level of man’s emotions that has to be redeemed from the murk of mysticism and redirected at its proper object: man.
#4...........didya miss the old testament then???? The disciples of Jesus were not around then!!!!! All things written down have been by man.......don´t remember reading ANYWHERE that Gods wrote anything down......even the sibyls passed their knowledge down to humans

I voted yes despite some doubts about the wording of the question
Religions may or may not be based on divinely imparted truths (opinions vary and are irreconcileable so no point debating it) but one thing holds provably true
No deity ever held pen to paper or quill to papyrus.
The books of the various faiths were written by people - most likely men, and moreover, probably men of authority). The result tends to be a script that supports a power structure, viz the perceived superiority of the Pope to the monarchs of Europe in the middle ages, and the way Islam devolved to rival power groups (the mullahs and their power structure via promotion versus the Sayyid of the Qureysh clan who claimed blood descendency from the Prophet)
You can find evidence of this in the amount of pre-existing prejudiced and pre-existing social structure they always included under the divine blessing, surely not coincidental...

MrRick77: Was the Bible really created by Government to try and keep you afraid of doing bad ?

guys please stop talkin and playing with religions ,why u like to harms peoples feeling ,,please stop :) with all my respect ,stop hates and disrespect ,,just smile and have fun
It was written by men inspired by God, God wrote it through the ones he choose with the holy spirit. If you read and study the bible indepth, it falls into place. Old testament set the scene for the new testament and things predicted in the old testament came through and were fulfilled in the new testament. Only God could of known that and brought it about! Men could not see into the future, it has a structure and is cleverly interlinked, its a very wise Book that only God Almight could of written. There is a design, so must be a designer.
