I can't see a collapse coming at all, nor long term neither. Recessions will come and go. The world system for most of the world has perfected the prevention of depression. The major industrial countries will remain steady. Underdeveloped countries and nations at war will come close to collapse, but for the world? No.

I think it will collapse because it is a self consuming system based on debt and growth. The economy cant sustain without growth. The bankers know the scam they propagate.

The economy already collapsed.
The west is living entirely on credit, going deeper into debt every day.
The creditor nations allow this, taking a loss on what is owed to them for the present, but strategically they grow stronger every day and the west grows weaker.
Eventually it will break down into war or an all powerful global dictatorship.
Either way it's the end of this economy.

I don't think the world economy will collapse because the majority of people are either too removed from sound economics or involved in the scam that is taking place in many national economies. Most governments are not held to sound financial policy and the governments are spending more than they should year after year. In my country, our politicians have faux debates on 'raising the debt ceiling' which means continuing the practice of spending more than they take in taxes. They have a partner in this scam, the central banks, that are more than happy to print up (or electronically fabricate) more money. There are some people that are fearful of what will happen when the world figures out what is really happening. The problem is most of the world is like us, struggling to make ends meet and not enough time to spend tackling big issues outside of our day to day existence.

It's a conspiracy theory, I'm not usually a believer of them. I don't know. I just don't think it will really because it sounds a lot like the tv show Revolution. The main stuff, not her brother being taken and all that. I think that is just a tv show and that isn't going to be real. I sure hope not.

thats is not easy to do. in fact, China as been calling for a new world currency to replace the dollar... although is a serious problem in the future.
there are other aspects we must be aware as the chines investments in US and other western countries, so it is going to take some time. but if we analyze US, China own about 1 trillion US dollars, ... i dont think they want the dollar to collapse.
but there are already some agreements between China / Russia / and other Bric countries (and non bric), that allow the exchange to be done in their currencies instead of dollar.
