jlw45: most women you talk to.....thank goodness for the electorial vote

With 31 days until the election, Democrat Barack Obama's road to the White House is widening, and Republican John McCain's electoral path is narrowing.

The McCain campaign's decision this week to abandon Democratic-leaning Michigan is the most obvious and dramatic sign, a major tactical retreat that limits the ways he can reach the magic number of 270 electoral votes on Nov. 4.

But McCain is in as bad or worse shape in other battleground states.

The Obama surge, coinciding over the last 10 days with the crisis on Wall Street and the debate over a federal bailout, has left McCain on the ropes in eight states with a combined 101 electoral votes that Bush carried four years ago.

The Republican is slipping further behind not only in Michigan, but also in four other states that went Democratic four years ago, but which McCain hoped to pull into the GOP column this year.

SKY, thank you .......... I really wish I could remain cool and calm like you.
But this stubborne conservative mentality and recent events really has me pissed-off. The country is almost in shambles because of it. I'm gonna call a spade a spade every chance I get.

jvaski: Thanks, I knew I spelled that wrong ! No, actually I have determine this after many conversations with Repubs and asking why they didn't want some real change in an administration. All of them were in tatal denial and claimed that we weren't in a recession, there was no global warming, and Bush continues to be doing a great job...............unbelievable denial.........!!
I am enkightened , I travel alot for adventure. People everywhere outsode this country absolutely hate Bush and are terrified of him - they associate him with how they believe people in this country think.
Hinda like you knucklehead !

Someone once told me that "Adventure is just another name for poor planning."

I travel a lot because I enjoy the journey, not because I want to prove to others what a stud I am or how brave I think others think I have to be to attempt whatever it is that I'm doing.

I'm also quite well read - Tell me something; Have you ever read Homer while backpacking in the Bob Marshall Wilderness area in Montana? Have you ever read Homer at all? ...Didn't think so... Kinda' doubt that you've read much more than a few pages of anything of substance -- or if you have it just didn't sink in.

I rather doubt that you have "determine this after many conversations with Repubs and asking why they didn't want some real change in an administration." In fact, I rather doubt that you've ever done any conversing with "Repubs" at all, other than trying to start a shouting match.

Knucklehead - Boy, that's a good one! And you even spelled it right! (Did you learn it in your travels?)

I know some names too, but you'll notice that I've refrained from using them, though I've no doubt had good reason.

No sir, you've done a marvelous job of showing the kind of person you are, so I don't reckon there's any need for name calling on my part. I do however have broad shoulders, so if it makes you feel superior or more like a "man" to resort to name calling, by all means do so. It will simply make it more readily apparent to readers the type of person who thinks that Mr. Obama is the answer to all our woes.

Oh, and personally I don't give two hoots what people outside this country think. One of the biggest problems today is that our politicians have spent precisely too much time listening to the opinions folks who DON'T live here and want to dictate how WE live that they haven't taken the time they should listening to people who DO live here.

Have a nice day! wine

Skybow: How are you doing Kansan. I can see your still feisty, did your surgery go well for you?

Seems to've gone quite well - Although I'll admit that being on a 10# lifting limit this week while recuperating has got me bored to distraction. (As you no doubt have noticed.laugh ) I'm so used to being active and on the go that I guess I'd forgotten how to "take it easy." (When I told the Doc that my idea of relaxing is a 20 mile canoe float down the Clinch, I was threatened with "enforced bed rest!" grin)

Good to see you, Sky! I trust things have been going well for you?

Quite well thanks. I think your attitude about you limitations is the best one to have in the long run. Gotta listen to your Dr. only in the short run you know, might screw something up otherwise.

The_Kansan: Don't waste your time, Ken, just consider the source and move on. Life's too short to waste it waiting for something that probably won't come and wouldn't be sincere if it did.

Gonna' go do some leather work - it's one of the few things the Doc and my "personal nurse" will actually let me do this week.

I'll check back later - In the mean time... Illlegitimas non-carborundum!

jvaski: You have my apology . I should not have said that.

I am very frustrated in understanding why people can't take a chance and think outside the box.
I am very concerned about the future of this great country. We very much affect globally now, and people in other countries really don't like us anymore. McCain administration would further damage any remaining allies we might have.

My parents were prejudice and I never wanted to be like them. It embarrassed me .
My father was going to vote for McCain , when I asked him why - he didn't have a substantial answer.
I think it was because he could relate to McCain's age group , and Obama is a black.

Thank you...handshake

Uh-oh! Does that mean that you're going to keep on with the name calling, or does it mean that you're actually going to present well rounded ideas and thoughtful reasoning instead of the "because I said so and you're stupid" mentality that you've been displaying? laugh handshake

i was wanting to make a comment...i've noticed alot of the dem.'s calling McCain a war mongor...why?...is it because he was in a POW camp and had been tortured while there?...i would rather have someone who has seen the hell of war, as a ''comander and chief''...as opossed to someone who has never seen war and could through this country's young men into battle without regard to there well being or what they could go through....as Clinton did in somalia...he just LEFT the rangers there to fend for themselves...and you can't tell me that someone who has seen battle would do that to there ownprofessor

"Ignorant" defines a thought process where one chooses to ignor reality and is in denial ,
"Stupid" suggests not in possession of a working thought process ...................
