jlw45: i was wanting to make a comment...i've noticed alot of the dem.'s calling McCain a war mongor...why?...is it because he was in a POW camp and had been tortured while there?...i would rather have someone who has seen the hell of war, as a ''comander and chief''...as opossed to someone who has never seen war and could through this country's young men into battle without regard to there well being or what they could go through....as Clinton did in somalia...he just LEFT the rangers there to fend for themselves...and you can't tell me that someone who has seen battle would do that to there own
McCain wants to go into Iran and Georgia immediately and kick some butt ............... is that not more "war-mongering " ?

Bush still has our kids in Iraq, and their getting blown to pieces by I.E.D's daily .................... and for what ? What is that getting us ? Is THAT any different than what you suggest Clinton did ?
jvaski: McCain wants to go into Iran and Georgia immediately and kick some butt ............... is that not more "war-mongering " ?
that just sounds like more campain retoric ,that is made way out of context ...but, i would still rather have a comander and chief that KNOWS ,first hand, the destain of war

its way different...but, i do admit, bush does'nt KNOW about war...but, he's not LEAVING them there without help, the way Clinton did

Have you sat down and watched the pictures of those kids killed - played back in silence on the tube ? I have, and it really really disturbs me greatly ! This is more of what the price of "ignorance " costs. Those kids are dieing for politics. They're real kids, young kids, innocent kids who went there for the excitement of battle .
jlw45: that just sounds like more campain retoric ,that is made way out of context ...but, i would still rather have a comander and chief that KNOWS ,first hand, the destain of war
Then why don't you put down your beer and put on a uniform and go help your buddy with his destain of war yourself ?
jvaski: Scroll back and read some of your comments .............name calling ?
My apologies - "Buddha Vaski" is, of course, so much worse than anything you've used.
jvaski: I'm still here Kansan Boy ! Go for it .........................
Well, jvaski boy, I would! ...Except that I have no reason to "go for it" as you put it. If YOU will scroll back, you'll see that my initial comment in this thread today was in response to a disparaging remark that you made concerning an earlier post of mine. And you didn't even bother to A., quote the post in it's entirety (forgiveable in this case since it's something we're all guilty of from time to time) or B., respond with anything but more attacks. Or C., answer politely and rationally any of the questions I've asked you.
jvaski: I think I used the term "Ignorant" , which is different than "Stupid" .......................
My apologies for mis-quoting you. You are correct of course. ...But it might not have happened if you had used the term in such a way as to let us know that you did not, indeed, mean "stupid."
jvaski: Have you sat down and watched the pictures of those kids killed - played back in silence on the tube ? I have, and it really really disturbs me greatly ! there not there for ''excitement '' of battle....when 9/11 happend, i wanted to join...don't presume that you know my thaughts on what our MEN are going through
jvaski: "Ignorant" defines a thought process where one chooses to ignor reality and is in denial , "Stupid" suggests not in possession of a working thought process ...................
Would it make any difference if I boned-up on all the statistics and technical information on the two candidates to dazzle you with my political whisdom ?
1st, Your "reality" is obviously different than mine. I know a considerable amount about South Lake Tahoe - How much do YOU know about Claxton, Tn. - or Ellis County, Ks. for that matter?
2nd, Given your manner of presenting and/or refuting and/or answering arguments, ideologies and questions... Probably not. But it might make you more believable and less antagonistic sounding.
3rd, I you think about it - and I won't even ask you to scroll back through every post I've ever made to verify this - I've never even positively declared that I am, indeed, a McCain supporter. But instead that I simply do not trust, nor intend to vote for, Mr. Obama at this point in time. No sir, I simply made a statement a few days ago that reflected Mrs. Palin in a positive light and was set upon this morning, by you, in the aforementioned "disparaging manner."
You know, I don't really expect to agree with or even get along with everybody, everywhere. And it's true that I can show my claws from time to time, albeit sometimes unnecessarily. But it's also true (whether you believe it or not) that I respect the views of others even if I don't happen to agree with them. And you'll very seldom catch me trying to impose my own personal beliefs on others against their will. What I WILL do is defend myself, and if sometimes the best defense is a good offense, then you can bet your bottom dollar that I won't hesitate to use it. (Usually - tho' admittedly, not always - in a polite and/or humorous and/or thoughtful manner.)
One last question: Has any of this really accomplished anything, other than to help us sharpen our typing skills and confirm what we both already suspected?
allready: And who says Sara has any brains....OMG....The lady is, Well just say I would never want to know what it would feel like if shhe was president of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA......
Yeah,an "Empty Suit","The Man The Media Built" is definitely better
Ever notice how Obama has no personal friends or associates except bad guys? Bill Ayres the unrepentant terrorist, his minister, his financial advisors who are all "dirty." Where is his proud American heritage? Why does he have no background beyond the senate to speak of? Who IS this guy????

jvaki.......consider the geo political implications of the 69,000 foreign fighters that are now held in Iraqi jails and prisons. They come from at least 18 different Moslem countries.
Now connect a few dots ......and ask yourself why....Hezbollah, Hamas and Syria are in talks with Isreal. Now you have the answer.
Terrorism is bigger than what is happening in Afghanistan and Pakistan. It is what has happened and is happening around Isreal, what happen in the South Philipine Islands when the abu Syu group takes a Christian village, what happens in N. Africa when a AlQeada group kidnaps two Austrian tourist. To focus this to Afghanistan, Pakistan and its NW terroritories....under estimates the size and scope of it.
Iraq was our place in the world to meet these guys with our military forces. GWB made a call. Some DEMs and left have said it was a immoral war. That Sadam had nothing to do with 9/11. Ever hear of state terrorism against ones own people? When Sadam was taking down Iraqi Kurdish villages with chemical weapons...kind of fits the discription of a state terrorist to me. Doing so, took Sadam....to the same moral level as bin Laden.
Dafur, Kosovo, Somalia, Iraq are all situations of State Terrorism.
Whether we like it or not.....9/11 made the US the policeman of the world. Few like to think that is the case. But what other choice did we have? Terrorism had a 50 year history in the middle east by then. We had to get into the fight in a 'larger way' than just going after bin Laden in Afghanistan.
If you read Bhutto book, she will tell you terrorism goes back some 1300 years in the Islamic world. That there has been a clash of cultures between the moderate Moslems and radical ones for that long. What the west and US are involved now in, is part of this clash of cultures.
Obama and the many DEMs like to say.....Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11....Sadam should have just been left there to enjoy the billions of his oil wealth.....and he would never hurt the US. He was killing his own to the number of 1000s per year without legal due process.....what is a single American life or 10000 American lives to a man who is doing that?

What is a single American life or 10000 American lives to a man who is doing that ? " A tragic waste " We've only served to stirr up a hornet nest over there , increase hatred towards us , and we'll NEVER create peaceful stability for them. They don't want it ..... they've been fighting each other for hundreds of years . It's their way of life. Who do we think we are - imposing our democratic ways upon them ? They want to do things theri own way . And , if instability becomes nuclear , NATO with a world unification needs to step in - not the USA alone ! We simply can't afford this anymore. We have our own problems right here at home .

JLW, I know what your thoughts are about this. Unfortunately , these kids do over there for the excitement of battle . I have personally seen the absolute change in a few kids that went over there . They left with excitement and enthusiasm only to see their buddies blown to pieces right before their eyes. They came home shocked and with an entirely different tune about war and this government is all about . When asked if the war is doing any good , they simply state their duty to finish the job. They don't realize the job can't be finished the way they think it should . We'll own that place for 20 years to come ................

Funny, the ones I know are on their second and third tours. They are deeply committed as they see the value.

Good for you and them, Maybe they were lucky and didn't see their friends dismembered before them. The ones I talked to went back for more as well , one is a medic, and because he wanted to help . Afganastan had justification for invasion , Iraq didn't, was simply pushed by a president with a personal vendetta and warlord ego.

jvaski: It's all to obvious why I am asking this question , and it shouldn't have a bearing on how you answer it
No it isn't obvious, but here's your answer...
I would definitely want her to have that option and she wouldn't need my permission either. I have always been pro-choice but during the early stages of pregnancy only (not like it reads today). I am also completely in favor of separation of church and state.
In theory, I'm as much a democrat as I am a republican - but when it comes to government I support the party who I think will do the better job. Today's democrats are not my cup of tea.

I appreciate your honesty Wish. I would warn you " Be careful what you wish for" and , you may think the odds are you won't be subject to McCain's pro-life laws . But sometimes we are the 1% who get caught . I realize no politician has our desires in 100% compliance .
The_Kansan: (I quoted the above post so that there would be no doubt as to whom I was addressing.)
Mr. jvaski, sir - I have a couple or three questions for you:
Why are you always on the offensive - haven't you heard the old saw about catching more flies with honey than with vinegar?
I'm very much middle of the road - could you please give me a rational argument that would entice me to support Mr. Obama?
Why haven't you answered any of the other questions I've asked - Am I to assume that you've simply dismissed me as unworthy of your attention?
Just curious...
Ok, let's see here .........Next ! Hi Kansan ! You're up ........... ask me some questions that I missed and I'll try to answer you honestly. If I seem offensive , it's because I have a passion to get people to think outside the box . But, no, I think you're probably a good guy and very worthy .................. go ahead
