sweetiefireball: Just wondering about what is the preferred date nowadays...
If it's agreed, I like either meeting for coffee or lunch...keeping it simple the first time, just in case you don't "click", you haven't invested too much. Then if things go well, dinner, movies, etc....will surely happen.
LadyLori: I agree! If great conversation is happening, anywhere you are will be a great date! I like your idea about a park....I think I will try that some time
yes no dinner for me on a first date. I like to keep it simple. if things go well the first time then dinner date the second time
I have two that I consider "best" though, and both totally different.
One of them, we met at the farmer's market in the old town part of my city and strolled by the stalls, he bought me a single rose, we shared a fresh white peach. As the sun started to set, we walked down the road to an ice cream stand, both of us ordered a sundae, and we sat on a park bench watching the trains go by, enjoying the cool breeze on a hot summer's night, and talking. How did this evolve? He ended up being my stalker, but that first date was good.
The other memorable first date was that I met a guy at a Tapas restaurant. He had arrived first, had the table chosen and met me at the door. I was quite nervous, as he and I had spoken by phone for several weeks leading up to this meeting and I already felt some pretty powerful stuff going on. He took great care in getting me past the blushing, stammering, fidgeting and as I grew more comfortable, neither of us wanted the evening to end, and I felt comfortable enough going to his home. He picked up a dessert on his way to his home, brewed some fresh coffee, and since his living room had no furniture, we sat on the floor in front of his fireplace and shared the dessert and coffee and talked...yes talked...until the sunrise. He asked if he could kiss me. It was such a magical moment as no one had asked first before. I left his home, went home and showered and changed clothes, met him at a park at noon, and that "first date" lasted for 10 days. We were together for a year.
The supermarket. There's something really entertaining about doing your grocery shopping with a new woman, and if she's turns out to be a total rag, then at least you've done your weekly shop.
