Thats what I'm using it for anyway.
So far I had 4 super nice dates with great women that were all that they said they were.
No scammers, in 2 cases it was so good that we are actually still friends and seeing each other every now and than, or talking out of CS channels. In 1 there was no chemistry at all and one we lost contact.So I'm actually quite positive about this site. Me responses on Polls are usually positive as well, by those people who are here for the same reasons as I am, namely looking for a partner. By the regular visitors and non lookers, non singles, or people with otherwise no lives whatsoever its a different story. They usually crucify me on the spot.
So i feel its actually them who are a bit agressive/acid/bitter. And I'm sure after this post they will all agree without exception.

I see it differently.
I don't feel a need to mention, or criticise others for using the site differently from the way I do. I actively encourage people to use the site in a way that works for them, regardless of my own personal needs. There are enough people here and there is enough space to cater for everyone.

and when creating one's account on here, there are the options NOT SINGLE/NOT LOOKING; FRIENDS/HANG OUT; EMAIL/PENPAL; among others, to choose from so not everyone on here is looking for a date. some are here just for the forums only or to kill time, nothing wrong with that. some were single when they joined, made good friends and still stay even tho no longer single.

But you see... you might be living in an area where you have other members and you have had an opportunity to do this..
You need to remember... that not only, for some, there is no one in their area, let alone the chances of being in the right age bracket... so it's all a bit hard..
But you have to also realise, that once you come on here.. and you do make some friends around the world... it is quite nice, for me anyway... to come on and say hello..
and without expectations..

I have met a lot of people in person from here on CS, probably the majority while in Ireland. But I have been on this site for many yeas. As far as relationships I have had one Marriage and been serious and met 3 beautiful ladies. None of these were one time dates. I went a long way to spend time together and we had a very special time together, sometimes things don't work out the way you think they will. But for now since my Ex Wife (3 years) I have not met anyone in person...not that I did not want to, it just did not get to that point to where we were able to meet. There are very many beautiful people on this site and have been in the past as well.

Have you considered what 'not looking' might mean for people?
It might mean they're in a relationship; it might mean they're getting to know someone with a view to possibly developing a relationship; it might mean they're not interested in having a relationship; or it might mean they're 'not (actively)looking', but if they meet someone along the way they're open to possibilities. I expect it means a lot of things to a lot of people, likewise with 'looking'.
Counting and comparing the number of dates people have had doesn't really fit with any of those stances. Counting dates doesn't necessarily mean any meaningful relationships have developed.
I met up with a few people from this and another site a for drinks and touristy stuff. It was all very pleasant, but doesn't really impact upon my life now.
I wonder what it means to you to count and compare the number of dates people have had.

It didn't go down very well the last time I touched and smelled a girl on the first date. I was only 16 though and it was more like grabbing and sniffing.
I'm only new here and everyone seems friendly enough so it is a good place just to chat and meet new people. Actual dating? I'll have to wait and see. There is a great girl that I am exchanging emails with at the moment though and if only we weren't so far apart I would definitely be trying to arrange a meeting. She is definitely the kind of person I could fall for so I'll have to see how it goes.
I hope there are a few people on here that have managed to find a date. It would give the rest of us hope.

I also wonder how many connections are made by people that stay off the forums entirely. I wonder how many connections there would be if there was no forum at all. It is not a negative thing. What's OT direction? I'm a non looker (not actively anyway, not in any hurry, happy out being single) but I agree it's just a question and I put in 2-5. I only went just to make an effort to date and it wasn't any big deal. No spark, just chat and a drink. I didn't feel any better or wiser for it to be honest, was the same after as before! Why did I bother? lol

Most people, even those with bad experiences, who are not looking or don't want a relationship wouldn't begrudge others a happy relationship, but there are some who just love to whinge and be cynical for the sake of it and put others off if they can. And then there are those who seem like they're trying to put you off but are just giving their opinion even if it's anti relationship.
It works both ways though! Some who are in happy relationships or just dating love to be smug and sanctimonious about it and try to make those who are single/not looking feel like they are losers, inferior or committing some major crime! Remember I said SOME!
