Brannigan70: Been thinking bout this since my initial reply (wanting to say what sounded normal) but the right thing to say (for me) is ........No I wouldn't give up my pet , currently without one since my old girl slipped away in June
I am really sorry to hear. The loss of a pet should never, ever be minimized. You have my empathy and support.
No way, I am gathering them from the streets, healing and searching them homes. Now I have 3 small kitties on 10 days, 1 is blind and I'm doing my best.Sometimes is harder than nursing a baby. If the partner loves me, he will love my whole personality! If not-there are many paths in life.
Since my two G.S.D's have been with me for the last 3.5 years (from 6 weeks) And one of them picked me at 2 weeks! :) My pups stay! They are outside dogs and have their own heated doghouses. Likewise if my mate has dogs or cats I would accept them. I have 75 acres plenty of room for all of them! lol, ;)

God bless you richly. I advocate for animals, both domestic and wild, and it is SO important--we share the other with other living things, and too often there seems to be this feeling that humans are better, or have a greater priority in the scheme of things, and I am not sure I buy into that. You rock, keep up the good work.

I don't have pets at the moment but I walked out of a potential relationship because of his dog.....mostly because I realized he was just as nasty as his dog.
cute, I said how wealthy is this wonderful man who loves me so much, who would consider me not having my dogs, let alone horses. I am sure with a huge amount of money. All would be worked out peacefully, I know I would be able to work it out. I make every one happy.MY JOB!

I have had to make this choice before, had a gent to tell me I had to choose, not fair, cause they were in my life before him, which I reminded him of.
The pets won out, but I do wish we could have found a happy middle of the line agreement, but he said it had to be him only. I never ask him to make such a choice about the things he brought into the relationship/marriage. I told him I loved him "warts and all" meaning our love for one another could/should be able to work through anything we could face Unfortunately, he did not love me with the same depth of love. No regrets, life lesson learned...move on
