Sad to hear that your heart is broken. In the words of an ancient sage "this too shall pass"......
I can tell you that yes, love is real, but let's distinguish the loves.....
There is love.... of things rather than people.
There is love.... of self more than of others.
there is love.... of power over others.
There is love.... of all sorts of things.
There is love.... of families that is different to the love for a spouse.
There is love.... of children that is different to that of a spouse.
There is love.... that transcends understanding...
How is this for a very small list of the different loves that people have?
Each of these "loves" is real. But the love that you seek will always be dependent on you.
When we put our hearts into the hands of another, we have to trust them, and from time to time, we get that love bruised, broken, healed, bruised again, etc.
But I am here to encourage you to realise that to risk is to live. To not risk is to be dead inside.
Give yourself time to heal the broken heart you have now. It will heal, and you will find yourself a different person when it does.
But this different person can find real love again. I know because I was like you with a broken heart, and now my heart is full with the love I give and the love I receive.
To be encouraged, ride out this hard time, knowing that "this too will pass".....

Indeed my personal idea of what love is. Unconditional love for a partner is surrounded by the fact that there are unspoken conditions of behaviours. no matter how much freedom the couple gives to each other.
Romantic love another dimension of experiencing love between 2 people, a much needed "feeling good" to counter act on all the stress hormones that happen in daily life.
I share my personal opinion and do not want to preach what love is, the truth is that I am still searching into the depth of Self worth and all you the people I meet are my teachers toward true love.

There are many types of love. Yes Love is real. Passionate, romantic, spiritual. A very great love is one between family, good friends. Not getting our heart broken, is cool, thus also a lesson we probably have all had to deal with in one form or another. As we as human get older.
