maybesoon: i wont mark your comments they are long enough, but i do agree with you, that some things are guess work as to how the bible became what is it today... no-one knows when Christ was born, but its better to have some form of a dating system to go by, then none at all, as long as we do whats right... in our lives and the lives of our children...
the dates are properly all wrong, but the bible has a reason to be what it is today,,, its contents from the OT to the NT has value to it... it gives direction in life... (JMO)
I didn’t write that just so you know. I took it from a website. I’m good but not that good. The dates are off and we have no proof of the existence of Jesus or Moses or Mary or Joseph or ANY of them really. Things could be mixed. There is a theory that Jesus actually represents a conglomeration of historical figures which would also make more sense.
The point being is that yes, your hunch was correct. Christmas was originally Yule and an observance of the Winter Solstice by the Pagans and it was slowly but surely absorbed by the Christians. This also occurred with Easter. Ask yourself why would Christians have anything to do with bunnies, chicks and colored eggs? The tradition of coloring eggs extends as far back as pre-dynastic Egypt.

only if they marshmallow in them, is when i get interested in them!!! then i dont care where they come from, but i know where its going... yum yum
I just view it as "Christmas" being the Christian observance of the holiday and Yule being the Pagan celebration of the Winter Solstice. They are two separate holidays now in that sense. Much like Hanukkah and Christmas.
RillyNiceGuy: Paganism. Those who call themselves Christain absorbed pagan beliefs and ways. God said thats a no no. Christ was not even closely born in DEC.
Yep you are right. If you scroll up a bit, I posted something about it. And as far as God being angry about it, yes thats true also. Everyone was pagan prior to the onset of monotheism and this new singular deity.
For worshipping other gods
If there be found among you ... that ... hath gone and served other gods, and worshipped them ... Then shalt thou ... tone them with stones, till they die. Deuteronomy 17:2-5
If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers ... thou shalt stone him with stones, that he die. Deuteronomy 13:5-10
For witches and wizards
A man also or woman that hath a familiar spirit, or that is a wizard, shall surely be put to death: they shall stone them with stones: their blood shall be upon them. Leviticus 20:27
Sin is not passed down........passed is to know good and evil and it is in our minds.......and even a child will lie to you. "Did you eat that cake?" "no!" The child sinned without knowing the law. The child knew it was lying though to keep out of trouble!
