samxixam: Honorable. To put someone else's well being over your own, is a very honorable notion.
But then it is your Life and I am definitely not telling you how to run it. You will need to have your own little Victories and defeats. It's part of Life!
krimsa: I received your letter of June 10th. I have never talked to a Jesuit priest in my life and I am astonished by the audacity to tell such lies about me. From the viewpoint of a Jesuit priest I am, of course, and have always been an atheist. - Albert Einstein, letter to Guy H. Raner Jr, July 2, 1945, responding to a rumor that a Jesuit priest had caused Einstein to convert from atheism; quoted by Michael R. Gilmore in Skeptic, Vol. 5, No. 2
Krisma,
This is written subsequent to your quote:
Another quote from Einstein, dated 18 April 1955 (source: James B. Simpson, Simpson's Contemporary Quotations, Houghton Mifflin, 1988; URL:
My religion consists of a humble admiration of the illimitable superior spirit who reveals himself in the slight details we are able to perceive with our frail and feeble minds.
That deep emotional conviction of the presence of a superior reasoning power, which is revealed in the incomprehensible universe, forms my idea of God... "

It is amazing, how everyone is trying to get into the incomparable Mind of Albert Einstein, and tries to divine what he might have thought!
krimsa: So in other words, you doubt the word of your "divine creator" because he clearly was an a**hole. You instead feel it fit to re-interpret everything that these people were trying to communicate? That’s a lot of foolishness.
Gees Krisma,
The Bible was written by PEOPLE, not by God. Therefore, it is not PERFECT.
Why are you so angry? Why would you say that the Supreme Being, your creator, and the Creator of the Universe, was an "a**hole"???

Me? Angry? Okay if you say so. My creator was my mother, sir as was your creator. Why not giving some credit where credit is due? And now you are denying that these men who wrote the bible were divinely inspired? I bet you are going to hell over that one.
Treat others the way you would like to be treated – with respect - be polite, considerate, with no personal attacks, name calling, harassment, bad language. This is a place for discussion, debate, even disagreements – but not arguments just for the sake of arguing or aggravation.

so, you like to have people assume they know what you mean when you say something. and you enjoy having people tear down your belief system. because that is what you are doing. you are not really reading what the posters are saying, and you are tearing down what they believe. i only name call when it is deserved.

Wow what a looooooong thread! And look another poll set up to just cause controversy. Neither side is likely to convince the other so how about just agreeing to disagree and call it a day.

krimsa: If you look back on it, at least 5-6 different topics sprung out of the Immaculate Conception.
It was a joke. Anyone who has written threads that carry on for this length understands that threads (different topics) can be born out of threads......without any kind of Immaculate Conception.

I notice this site has fewer threads that go upwards of 15 pages. It just depends on the forum very often. The more people, the more new topics that are constantly being started so people lose interest in whatever one they are posting in.
There are a few interesting passages in the bible. One relates that, as a group, the apostles and Jesus and Mary? are to enter a temple. The apostles enter. Jesus and Mary? are towards the rear. Jesus enters the temple, but, Mary? stays in the foyer of the temple. At the time, round about when all this happened, it was customary for the wife to remain in this foyer, when the husband entered the temple!
Whoever wrote this either made it up (as an interesting plot-line), or, it is the story of what happened. An interesting sequence of events to include in a completely made up book.

Christianity and Monotheism itself would be in conflict with much earlier Pagan Goddess/Earth centered spirituality and this is why you see such a hostile backlash against female centered spirituality. It is believed that this was the first religion of humanity and the archeological evidence dates back to the Neolithic.

Yes, I agree. But a problem remains - we should be developing an understanding, if not, an admission, that anthropomorphising a boundless and undefineable entity, which could be called - whatever you want! - is just another way of saying 'my god is better than your god - earlier than your god - mightier than your god'. This 'entity' resides in 'non-time', and therefore -any- definition is acceptable, whenever this definition is made?!

Yeah - which Mary? Would a creator really care whether his envoys are immaculately conceived, or not? Why does this render the story of this event, either more mysterious or less mysterious? Someone called Mary, and someone called Joseph, did 'it', they had another son; the guy learned some pretty cool things (for his time), had an epiphany - whatever; this made him special enough to have been noticed by quite a few people - who wrote stories about him - Along the way, the stories became more and more embellished (we all do it! exaggerate - I mean), until a whole religion was written around him. Was he real?
If you look at the grain - you cannot see the beach; and if you look at the beach - you cannot see the sand!
