I won't pretend to know all about American politics. But one thing I do know, as we all do.
And that is, Presidents/Prime Ministers do not actually run a country, when all is said and done. They have a big say, but the most important thing about such leaders is that they become the face of the nation. Perception and image play a lot in influencing people's opinions, how relationships are developed with leaders/representatives of other nations, particularly those with whom relations are let's say, delicate.
If the image Obama portrays to the world at large (and his highly charismatic and intelligent wife!)can help to calm the savage beast of past anti-American sentiment in certain parts of the globe, then surely that is a great start, and should not be down played.
And I agree, anti American sentiment started long before Bush, but during his terms, he did a darn good job of cementing it.

I TOTALLY understand your sentiment, and were it not for this situation I would also agree. There's just one little thing that gums up the works - and that is the fact that he has now put America in great peril by assuming trillions of dollars of debt that the taxpayers must pay back....all to look like a good guy in the face of the world.

Indyfella: Just heard that the Seal snipers/with proper gear, can hit a target 1 mile away and come within 1" of the target.
God...I love it.
Depends on the the equipment being used, whether a tactical Remington 700 or say an AS50 where the range is far longer.
The M110 is an ideal candidate for one sniper to do this in one go, but a light skinned boat skips (rigids) quite a bit so my guess is a sniper took them out from a helo.It isn't possible to make a shot from a bouncing rigid travelling at 30 nots.
Most likely the chap used his product, but then again as others said this is what the guy's are specifically trained to assault boats and oil rigs.
Another recent example was also displayed by Royal Marines Snipers, where soft skinned boats go to inspect a boat, and then the Sniper does his work from the elevated position where he gets the best available position.

You can't blame the President alone.... Congress has a say... and who put them in office?... we did.... so if there is blame to go around it is the damn republicans who are at fault.

The field of view was way to small to use a helo, plus the winds would have had a huge effect on the shot when only inches count. I think the SEALs assaulted the boat with small arms.

The buzz words around the globe are ...
..."stimulus package". He is not alone in his actions.
And I know, where will all this lead us...
But at least all major leaders of the western world seem to be working closely and more cooperatively together right now. And that hasn't happened in a long while. It has to be good thing.
