WhovianGeneva: For me marriage is just some stuff arranged by Churches and State.
I'll certainly do it if it's important for the ONE i will find, but I don't need it to give my word to "God" that I will take care of my companion.
It's for me more serious and important that saying yes in a church.
I agree why do we feel it's necessary to confirm what we should already know in the presence of a minister/God? I am not a christian but I understand the belief behind God and marriage...I thank everyone for their wonderful replies and wish you all the best of luck
I actually don't believe in marriage except in the sense that it ruins relationships
tell me why you believe in marriage or don't...I know people here have been married and divorced and looking back would you not marry that person if you had to do it again?
Marriage is like getting a bad rash. Can be very frustrating and annoying, and will always leave a scar in your hart and wallet for the rest of your life.
It might be a cultural thing, but here it is generally understood that a wedding is something you have in a registy office and a marriage in church. Just the terms in language give to different understandings of words in cultures.

Neither Marriage nor Wedding us part of the Romanian or Swedish vocabulary, you are right again -
It's called registering when doing the civil bit and poisoning (!) for the church bit in Swedish.
I am not really accepted into a religious building for a ceremony, btw...
But... I feel good being married (or wed then... )
Just that if this for some reason would not work out, then I would not do it again, that is how make it sacred in my own little world of imagination.
cameraman: Th only reason I should get married is if I want to have kids... Ahhh... So she can have kids... Ahhh... So we can have kids... Or should I???

Good and you...but back on subject.....I think there is something to be said for standing up and declaring your commentment to someone....I know I know it does not take a paper to do this ...but as I said it is not needed ...but wanted by both that take this step
To me, marriage is the ultimate way for a man and a woman to say "I love you" to themselves and to the world. It´s a beautiful ritual and I would love to get married and make people around me happy and thrilled.
I also think that one of the reasons marriages fail is because before you get married, or while you are still looking for a partnet, the man puts in a lot of effort to "look good" and "be cool" (see world of animals: females choose the strongest male) but then after getting married it´s like they say that, "hey, I am married now, I got me a woman, now it´s okay for me to drink beer in front of the tv, grow a big stomach, don´t help out at home, and snore loudly at night!"
(Okay, I am excaggerating, but you get the point)
To me is seems like a lot of marriages fail because the people involved stop working on it and take things for granted.
But then again, if I knew better I wouldn´t be on this site...
