And did these aliens influence human behavior (ie. society, culture, etc.)? I was recently watching something on The History Channel about this subject and the book "Chariots of the Gods" and it was really interesting... what do you think?
The Great Pyramids of Egypt, the Nazca Lines of Peru (which trace out shapes which can only been seen from far above the surface of that plateau, thousands of years before manned flight), Stonehenge, etc... how did the ancients create these things, and why? Please post your take on it.
I looked back for a few pages of posts and didn't find any previous postings on this subject.

you been reading:"Where the Gods cosmonauts?"(Erich von Daniken) society in those days wasn't as complex as today... with a 40hr work week left to be invented yet, people had a lot of free time....
I don't see why not. They visit us now so why wouldn't they have visited back then? I'll bet Gilly would have a good answer on this one. Hope he's tuned in on this forum with his silver foil communication device
Hi. The answer is Yes, but the Aliens are called Angels in the Bible. I read 'Chariot of the Gods' a long time ago. I do not have accesss to the History Channel.

I can't imagine why we would think that we on Earth are the only people anywhere. I can't imagine that the whole of existance is so small that beings (named various things by different peoples and religions throughout history) would not have been helping us, as a race, to progress.

no doubt there is life out there somewhere but given the vast distances involved it would be pretty unimaginable that anyone who actually managed to travel to earth would be so coy when they got here. and why do people think that if aliens ever did come here they'd be benevolent? i think it was Stephen Hawkings who said that if there is life out there and it had the technology to find us we'd be best off keeping our heads down.
Well we are maybe just sorta like ants in an ant farm ,just some little pets for some giant alien kid to show to all his friends,to many of us for him to name and besides we would not come when he called to us anyway .....

so, how would you feel if you were confronted with full clear evidence earth was blown to pieces during moonbirth by an artificial explosion so awesome it left phantoms of its origin all over the world - and it was square?
go and take some 10x zoom digital photographs of the moon. use a tripod and take about 50 pics. forget all the craters so carefully 'discovered' and named. boost their contrast with adobe photoshop... discard all but the clearest.
just look at the main visible shapes on your images. one of them is a huge square! with a crater in the middle. its there for everybody to see.
It would be naive to think that the Universe being so huge there isn't a more evolved species out there. They have mainly left earth alone because we are so primitive-basic intellects and yet destroying out planet-cutting the limb off while sitting on the wrong side.

I don't think that is a question anybody can answer. Anything out there is just a guess. However, there are some things that have been found that make one wonder. Like that carving of the thing that looks like an airplane from several thousand years ago. Where did the idea come from? And yes, it looks like a modern jet with a pilot. The crystal skulls are another one, we don't have the technology today to create one. There are lots of things in history that we look at and give us cause for wonder. It is not a question of who built them, the civilizations that created them of course, but where did the ideas and knowledge come from to do it.
The Egyptians wrote that the Gods came from Sirius I believe and laid out the pyramids that astronomers say replicates that star system exactly back at that time. Is this correct? Why would the Egyptians say that? We don't know.
Recently Nasa has found amino acids in comets. Kepler is out there finding some amazing stuff about planets in other solar systems. Of which over 200 planets are now known to exist. We are not unique. If it happens here, it must happen somewhere else. So in my opinion, yes, there are other civilizations out there. And there are more than likely some more advanced then us and some less advanced.
Have they been here? Who knows. But I have no doubt there are many, many civilizations out there somewhere. And they would probably want to stay away from us for now as we are still barbarians in a galactic sense. We can't get along with each other never mind some other world civ's.
actually i find it very interesting reading through this thread. what has surprized me is how few oppose the idea?
von daniken made an impression on me at the time but many loved to hate him. he was attacked repeatedly here but the fact of it was and still is the unique things he put so much heart into recording still are unsolved in other terms better suited than many of his suggestions.
hawking discredited himself on black holes, one of the biggest ideas in space theory, and what else is there to his credit???
somehow science has been tarnished and repeatedly in my eyes and i long wondered toward taking the theme further?
do you think anybody will ever resolve the question more usefully?
