I have written numerous letters and engaged responses . I continue to write letters - knowing that maybe just one of them will get through. The problem is - that even if it gets trough - our congressmen and women live entirely in their own little egotistical and spoiled worlds ....and they have their own ajendas to make political points
It is either admirable or fruitless that you attempt to participate thusly in the political process, but it doesn't make your vote or your opinion more important than mine.
Galactic_bodhi: How can anybody listen to anyone in this country anymore?
All people do here is wait to talk. From our politician's down to the citizens that you cite.
Their opinion is whatever drivel happens to be currently percolating below the dull background rumble of other peoples' opinions being expressed as they google the next straw-man to hide their insecurity and inability to think for themselves...
repeat in english? Is there a statement of note there?

democracy - the great leveler
no every vote counts but that seems like the least one can do
i think what was being pointed out is the put your money where your mouth is principle
lots of grumbling but how much elbow grease is put behind it?
not just you- this is a long standing pet peeve of mine- applies to any axe being ground
whether it is fruitless or not to put some action to what supposedly bothers you so much is whats admirable
or at least sensible
sadly the tea party people almost put some action to their disgruntlement then they wasted it by calling horrid childish names
felixis99: maybe? I think a lot of people feel bamboozled
but I could see thru him from day one, at least I felt I could, and my feelings I had about this administration years ago have turned out to be correct. Does that make me special? No. I am, because of my family's history, very experienced with the political process in the US, so I maybe was harder to "win over," and in fact was not "won over."
Maybe I am not understanding you correctly, but I do not think that people can organize "too late." It's best they do it as soon as the y need is apparent..........it's always "too late."
My opinion is very much here or there. I am a citizen of my country. And, someone without an opinion is a fish out of water on this thread, I daresay
perhaps we simply see things diffrently,
your opinion is pointless and only noise if there is no action to it
posting and getting upset on a website doesnt really count
i never said anyone organized too late the whole point is if the american people arent happy they should take to the streets not post on dating sites and not go into the streets and call politicians hateful names
i have an opinion and i dont need to be on either side of this so called argument
my opinion stands on principle- simple. not emotion or having a side to be on. thats the beauty and the difficulty of standing on principle-- its lonely.
but if you didnt understand galactics statement i have little hope that mine will make sense to you either.

True, but it does allow me slighly more entitlement when making criticizm towards politics and government ...

it may be a pet peeve of yours, but who are you to judge others by your idea or standard of what we should do? Perhaps most of us use ITT to stay informed and get a pulse on how our countrymen feel. Perhaps we are too busy trying to survive to "participate" in the mess that has been made of our political process.
Whatever,
for better or for worse we live in a free country where one's level of participation in democracy is a personal choice. perosnally I think it's a waste of time, and I really only bother to reply in respect for you as I have noted many of your posts with much favor and you seem a nice woman
felixis99: repeat in english? Is there a statement of note there?
I wasn't aware I was posting in Swahili.
Is there a statement of note anywhere here on CS? Or is it all just noise while people google the next item to prop up their opinion, instead of having the common courtesy to listen to what people say, and have the respect to accept it as is, rather than attaching their own personal realities as a reaction to opinions they don't agree with?
Personally, I don't need to defend my opinion with links or statements made by other people or numbers and graphs and warrants and slants and the other numerous relational items people create as a justification for their stance in life.
The beauty of life is you get to pick your own filters for reality. I choose mine carefully and don't allow people to arbitrate the inferences that they often associate with my statements. I am my own reality and I accept that other people live in an equally separate and mutually exclusive dimension in their own minds.
I can't convince people of anything except through living it myself and setting my own actions as an object lesson. The freedom of your perception is that you don't have to respect my opinion, but the responsibility of your perception is you do have to respect me. Anything less than that is dishonest and hypocritical if you demand respect but aren't willing to give it.
Drea111: never said that either...but really it doesn't matter who is president, it's his cabinet running things. While I don't affiliate with either party (moreso independent) I have to say that Republican ideals make the most sense. Less government involvement. Anytime the government gets involved in something it turns into a bunch of wasted money and wasted resources. The private sector runs things much more efficiently. Too much red tape. And now, Obama is going to make the White House Red with all his freakin RED tape!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow, come to Australia to see the opposite effect.
TheresMyFriend: Is obama listening to the American people?
Personally, It don't look that way!
JMO, whats yours?
First of all I'm in the medical field and we DONT need insurance companies.
Funny how Rush Limbaugh wants his health care from a country that has government run healthcare (costa rica) and senators and the house voted that no matter what happens to the health care plans, they are keeping their government run healthcare.
Cracks me up that the very people ripping on Obama for wanting nationalized health care, voted to keep in themselves.
90-93% of the American people in various polls said that attacking Iraq was a good thing before the war started. Remember that fool,"MISSION ACCOMPLISHED". lol
And the American people voted not once; BUT TWICE to put in Bush when he now has created the worse deficit in history, while taking away many civil rights, and giving corporate welfare at a record amount.
The American people have a 54% divorce rate, and 1 in 4 American between the ages of 18-25 has an STD.
we have one of the worse health care systems of any first world country, and our economy is run by a store called walmart and a country called China.
The American people have their heads up their butts; Obama should say screw it; I'm getting rid of insurance companies; I dont care how many politicians they've bought off; and any Democrat that votes against it will be on my list and I'll do anything to get them out of office and not support them.
TheresMyFriend: Is obama listening to the American people?

P.S. these are just a few I saw; I have over 1100 pages of criminal charges from insurance companies all over the country. California is the worst, but the health insurances make the most. Correlation? yes.
I think it is the American folks on CS who are not listening to Obama going by the number of whinging posts that keep appearing here about him. Do you think if you moan for long enough that Bush will reappear as if by magic.

He is hearing the American people loud and clear. As of this morning 46% are for the Health Care proposal and 43% are against it. Do you hear the people talking? We want health care!
mjames: senators and the house voted that no matter what happens to the health care plans, they are keeping their government run healthcare.
Well, of course! They won't have to have the same health care they are cramming down the throats of the rest of us. They will be exempt from it. They will have the best. Courtesy of us, of course.

That's because they don't realize what's in this bill. Antsy Nancy herself said we have to pass it to see what's in it.
They probably don't realize that the increased taxes start now, while the "benefits", if you can call them that, don't start til 2012.

You have very little faith in the American people. We never really know what is in any bill that Congress passes. This one is no different. They have been telling us for years what the general talking points are. Many of them are excellent. Congress alway puts some good with the bad. I am more than willing to pay my share to allow others less off than I to enjoy health care.

I'm not ripping Obama for wanting National Health Care. I think it would be infinately better than what they are voting on today. All I care about is that the system works, and I see no indication that anything about these proposed changes will work.
Why do you think it will (as proposed) have a positive effect instead of a negative effect?
National plans generally subsidize physicians liability insurance, if they have it at all. What do you think is going to happen if they not only add 30 million people to the plan, but then cut their reimbursement rates yet do nothing to lower their liability insurance? They will stop taking Medicare for one thing. And how can that not lead to rationing?
It just seems to me that before anyone makes sweeping changes to the existing system, they should look ahead and also make changes that will incorporate other hugely significant factors. It's folly.

Somehow I don't think you, or anyone else, are going to "enjoy" the "health care" you are going to get with this bill.
I have a lot of faith in the American people. Most of us don't want this bill. Not that Obama and company care.
