I enjoy the forums and I am unfortunately, addicted to Gems Swap in the games section. It's very rare that I receive mail that is genuine. Lots of people seem to look at my profile though. As long as I keep enjoying the forums and I can't win on Gems Swap I'll stay.

GingerBe: Good post. I think the reason is that it is not cost effective to keep it on track, because they are answering complaints constantly, people reporting threads or posters etc., for not obeying rules.....
True Ginge but a few folk on here deliberately set up a thread to antagonise people then complain when the majority of folk argue against the point the OP made and then the OP screams "Pack attack" and folk get kicked of or banned for a bit as they used to. As far as the OP is concerned they have "won". I have been bitten only once by that particular ploy and never again, Especially when the person/s concerned then opens a thread gloating about "who is missing"

If you take part in a serious discussion be prepared to see the opposite viewpoint as VALID not everyone argrees and we all have as we keep saying the right to free speech.I may not like your opinion but I strongly defend your right to have it and most threads are heated but only very few folk get personal.

Wise words.

And that's a damn shame ... haven't been around long enough to have this happen to me...but don't they track back the thread to confirm where it went awry? Guess it's a time consumer right?

But then I've never put up with tattle tales or sneaks... slithery little wretches. mumbling

GingerBe: I hate polls like this that just give CS more reasons to close the forums than they have already.

Whether to keep forums, or not, is up for review soon and CS have been seriously considering closing them from some time now.The forums have served us well over the years and many people have met and got married, or set up home together, from here.

Many people, like me, only use the site to stay in touch with friends through the forums.

Instead of talking about what you don't like about them, why not just leave, and be done with it, and let people who actually want to use them, be here.

Polls like this just give CS a false idea that people don't like their service, when in fact the opposite is probably true.

Hi K,

Nice to see you and Happy New Year to you... I left just before Christmas because I was really needing some time out.... but I decided that I sort of missed my friends on here, and I really cannot blame this site for anything... It gave me the opportunity to expand my knowledge and horizons..

But if the forums went... I guess the humor, learning ,jokes, smiles and laughs would go too...

Meanwhile, I intend to enjoy it while it lasts... cheers wave wave

Happy New Year to you down under too!blushing

To me, CS is the forums! I have taken a break from time to time myself! There's a load on FB trying to recreate the forums but I don't like FB and all they seem to do is play word games!

I know a huge batch left in November and December but I have to say, there's far less trouble on the site. I noticed there's still a few stirrers left and one or two who have returned. Why they have to use a dating site for some of these discussions is beyond me. It would be no more appropriate to print war stories in a teenage girls magazine.

I'm told there are many fakes and multiple profiles so I seldom welcome newcomers anymore and stick with long term posters who I believe to be genuine.

But CS is what it is and sadly not what it was. I have my own theories as to why, but I don't own the site.

But like yourself, I have made a handful of good friends on here and some people have been invaluable in their practical advice to me.

Fortunately Ireland is small and I've been to enough meets to separate the wheat from the chaff!

Thanks to contacts I've made on here, my life has improved and inspite of burst pipes, frost, snow and the car breaking down, I have just had my best Christmas and New Year in more than half a lifetime! So I've now got a life outside of cyberspace in the real world again. That's why I don't post as much as I once did!

You seem to have made a few good friends yourself on here and you met a few on your world tour last year! I was sorry not to be home in Scotland when you were there! But I saw some great pics!

Anyhoos, you're one of the good ones and I'll always be happy to see you on here!teddybear

I really wonder about it being "cost effective". I remember reading somewhere that POF makes 30.00usd every time somebody logs into the site just from the advertising rates. I haven't seen the ad's since I've always had my blocks up full force, but around the end of November I obtained a new computer and logged in here without the blocks up...it was a horrible experience since I did not have the computer set up to block the ads.
I do not think CS is in the poorhouse! Granted it costs them money to run the site, but if you can apply the same statistic from POF to CS the number of people using the forums is important to them.

Thank you , thats very nice of you to say that... Yes, I did meet lots and like yourself, I tend to stick with those.. and a few others who seem to be wonderfully nice.. sorry to hear you are one of those affected by the burst water pipes... thankfully Scotland sent you bottles of water... ( I watched it all on the news)
But there , precisely what CS is about.. we just said it... information, communication and me watching worlds news instead of living in my coocoon of a tiny pocket of this gigantic continent. wave wave

gininitaly: I didn't know that??? Well I think this is a GREAT forum!!! Much better than others I've been to, I often wonder why there is always this threat of a dating site closing it's forums... seems it happens everywhere ... a way to keep everyone behaving or it really isn't cost effective?

It doesn't seem as if they micro manage here compared to other places and allow talk about just about anything... what could be better?

What I have found as an English speaker living overseas, is that these forums are vital to my mental health ! Sometimes or many times you need to escape the cultural mores of the country you live in and want the patter of those old ingrained thought structures; silly, irreverent or as earnest as they may be. This could be true of the housebound or the country mice as well I suppose. They also give a place where people can actually discuss what's on their minds about this whole online world... or maybe that's exactly what they don't want us doing .... let the illusions live on!

They actually really do fulfill a definite public service as well as making new friends and connecting people romantically on occasion.

3 cheers for CS forums
thank you!teddybear
