Colleene1024: Blue honey, I am almost 40 and still single. I will NEVER settle for second best. I may grow old and die alone but, I will not settle for second best. That has always been my number one saying. Never settle for second best.
I use to say the same thing to myself ,but then, one morning I got a bitter wakeup call
To show my wife how much I loved her, I used to tell her that if she died, (which she did), I would marry again the next day, meaning that I was very happily married.
Now I regret having expressed myself in that way. As for getting married again, I think that it is a no no for me.
rohaan: Guess I should have just said "No" to the question and left it at that.
Don`t know about you, but sometimes I feel it more comfortable to open up and spill the beans in front a bunch of strangers than to have a conversation with my closest friends

Sunnydaze14: I think the american way of life has spread and there is not much difference wherever you live nowadays. But surely you love a person before their way of life or nationality? There nationality is not relevant.
It is. I have a lot of friends that living in a mixed culture marriage. And one of them is turning to the other... so it is relevant if you think about how you want to live your future. I could never be with a man from Iran or something...and you?

No one can take her place, ever.
Ben, If you thought that any woman could take the place of your late wife then you were not ready to marry. You have to know in your heart, She will ALWAYS be apart of you. Who ever you marry next will know that as well. Your wife will always hold a special place in your heart that can never be filled by anyone else. Keep looking Hon. Don't give up.

I would not single out any nationality and say I would/would not be with them. It would be most likely to happen with someone from a similar culture though.

I came close to doing the same thing. Read page 11 LOL At least I think that's the page. Maybe something close to it.

Many thanks for your post.
Am really trying to move forward but it is hard. Am afraid to "loose" the happy memories of her. Good thing that I have found someone who is very understanding but she can never take my wife's place.

Of corse the most important thing is to fall in love. ...
i voted for ' if it is important to my other half"
I almost voted for only if it's someone really special but them decided that's kind of a given - marriage wouldn't be absolutely necessary - but if it was important to my partner I would with a prenup - to protect both of us
