TrueBlue1986: If we all did what our parents did, we'd still be living in the trees.
And besides, the 60's, the 70's? That's the kind of wisdom we could do without.
My parents were hard-working, sacrificing individuals. My mother held 3 jobs to put food on the table and provide us the basic necessities of life. My father worked hard and rose in his company based on unparalleled work ethics and performance. I base most of my life experiences and successes on the example my parents and grandparents and great-grandparents set for me. This does not at all correspond with your ideas. Could it be that your eyes need to be opened a bit more?
TrueBlue1986: Time breeds entrenchment, which is why you must step aside. It's not that you should be culled lol, simply retire from shaping a world you no longer comprehend.
The youth's future lies above the soil, your future lies beneath.
I think the guy might have been talking about you when he said "Father forgive them for they know not what they do",,,, or say.

Ladefoss23: he is the younger generation in your land. how did you bring him up?
I am the proud Mother of 2 children who were raised to respect their elders.
Actually my son is 48 this year and my daughter 43 so I guess they are not long for this world according to Trueblue
I think the replies on here speak for themselves.
You only have to go into places like B and Q,Homebase, any of the large Supermarkets in the UK and note just how many older people work there. Why because the Companies know they get respectful staff and happy customers.
Us "golden oldies" put the young to shame. They'd rather live on benefits,so God help the future for the young upstarts who think we are extinct.

Don't forget,it's you Younguns who get sent to War,Not us Oldies!
time4fun4u: Well said Jac.Anything i cant do is because of my knowledge,or skills, not because of my age. However,a person half my age could not do what i do,as it will take them time to gain that experience and skills.

If we were to cull the over 50's, would it then be the over 40's next, and so on?
Different generations are always going to have something to moan about, how their generation is the best and the cheeky young whippersnappers have it so easy, and the old farts just don't understand.
Bodecia: As I progress in life toward my hopefully senile-contented, mint-julip, hammock napping old age, I wonder how the young see us "older" types..?
Do they really think we are useless, out of touch with reality and the Modern World?
What would you consider your age has brought you, apart from more aches, pains and the need for the occasional foot rub?
Do you think you are more wise than you were when you were 20 years' younger?
Do you think the over-50s are discriminated against in the work place? Or do you think they should make way for younger workers??
if we did the younger will never know what True freedom WAS and IS
There is an old saying in Japan, I believe, that says "One does not truly begin to 'Live' until one reaches the age of 60. Why? Because it is then that, hopefully, the person has enough Life Experience to "know" how to Live". In these times, age CAN be just a number unless of course you believe that at a certain age you must "give up and go to seed". Then it truly CAN be 'all over'.

I wouldn't argue with that, I have that opinion of my grandparents and great grandparents generations. They built this country. It's the later generations that inherited prosperous countries and from there have plundered the Earth in creating today's economic shambles.

yes, we can all see what your grand parents have achieved and created. when we were young we were polite and compassionate. god help you when you soon , in a blink , become old. I think "ols peoples home" would bloom in business
