TrueBlue1986: I wouldn't argue with that, I have that opinion of my grandparents and great grandparents generations. They built this country. It's the later generations that inherited prosperous countries and from there have plundered the Earth in creating today's economic shambles.
I see the point that you are making. It was the "buy now,pay later" and the "we want what you have" attitude offered by our governments and commercialism, and adopted by the consumers of the 80's and 90's that got us into so much mess. It created a sense of entitlement into society that was not there before. However,we all evolve, and each generation will be tutted at by their elders.

Snuggs09: TRUE, I am 68 years old. I don't know everything, not many people do. From what you posted you think that my future is 6 feet below the earths surface. I have issues, many that I have posted on CS but I am still a productive member of society.
There are many great people in history who in their senior years have contributed a wealth of intelligence in many fields to further the livelihood of mankind.
One day here on CS I posted in a thread that my father molested me when I was 32 years old. You were one of the people who sent me flowers and words of kindness. You could have just as easily thought to yourself that I probably deserved it. But you didn't. You chose to show kindness to a woman who is approaching her later years.
The reason I remember your kind words is because you are young and I thought how sweet it was of you to be so compassionate to an old biddy. I still appreciate your thoughtfulness even though you think my "future lies beneath"....
I just think people don't really want to grow up, all this "life begins at 40" and then 20 years later it's "60 is the new 40" and I think today's 40/50 year olds are never going to be like the wise old Grandparents I remember - it would require them growing up at some point.
And I also think that attitudes need to change, especially given the current state of things, and that this can't happen without the new generation.
Sorry if offended you, I know I generalise a lot and my point is pretty broad. I don't mean it personally and I've absolutely nothing against the elderly.

bodleing: The person made their first bungee jump at the age of 88. You claim that if you've not bungee jumped by the age of 65, you never will.
I was just pointing out the error in your logic.
It grants attention because it's so rare... is my point. It's noticeable because it's not normal. Aside from that, can you not tell when a point is somewhat slapstick?

I do agree for the most part but I must say glad I will be dead before this generation takes over(NO RESPECT-generally speaking)..JMHO...
A real CULL takes out the weak, the infirm and the animals that will not survive. Not all the old or of a certain age but the Animal who cannot improve the stock of the flock. So many culls actually take out the young Bucks as the weaker ones are surplus to requirements and they are not worth the feeding and would have no chance of breeding due to a dominant older and stronger male in the Pack .....True of all animals....

I reckon that we should "cull" on a basis of IQ and general stupidity. Sort of: die if you are stupid. Oh dear... we might end up with only those over 50 though...
Ladefoss23: that was the old days, nowadays? with kids making hair stick in air with oil and listeniing to noise calling it music, and all kinds of dipe and things. and no compassion? no no, they will not become human even when they are 600 years old
Who are responsible for these things that you see as negatives in younger people?

More often than not, yes. But you made a claim that was incorrect, I really can't see how you can call it "slapstick."
If there's one thing that the older generation can offer (of which there are many things, of course), its handing down stories of what things used to be like and hopefully making some of the young guns a little more grateful for what they have and how they got it.
I think that it is us,their parents who grew up with the way things used to be who instilled the sense of entitlement into them because we bought into the "I want in now" mentality. We can not blame them!

Culls take place too.. when there are too many animals overcrowding the suburbs..
They culled the crocs back in 1969, and now they have taken over again..JMO
They culled the koalas on Kangaroo Island.. They regularly cull the kangaroos... before they decided to use the meat for eating... They should in my opinion cull the possums..

TrueBlue1986: Time breeds entrenchment, which is why you must step aside. It's not that you should be culled lol, simply retire from shaping a world you no longer comprehend.
The youth's future lies above the soil, your future lies beneath.

It's good to see when those with a problem with you resort to lies.
Your quote" the youth's future lies above the soil, your future lies beneath"
Sorry but I can only interpret those words as meaning us oldies should all be 6 feet under.Correct me if all who read your words and responded misread you.
