EagleWoman: You didn't bother responding to my post where I talk about my son. By the way he is 1 year younger than you but I would say, maturity and wisdom wise he would run rings round you!!!
Don't you just hate people with selective memories.

TrueBlue1986: Issues like what, the economy? The debt? The environment? The depletion of natural resources? Yes, we'll see if we can deal with the mess you've left behind.
Yeah Yeah, I can see your generation just living un Utopia...
TrueBlue1986: You shape this Western world now yes, and it's a spectacular failure. The attitude of this same generation can only bring more failure, you won't change and you won't learn.
How do you define spectacular failure??? Just about every facet of modern day Western life is vastly improved over that of say 50 or a hundred years ago, and it has become that way because the people who shaped it (us old farts) constantly learned and developed and adopted new ideas.
Each generation learns from the one before it. Hopefully good things as well as different ways to do things. When they stop learning then the world will truly be a mess. Sometimes in order to learn they have to learn to take the cotton out of their ears and put it in their mouth. It is extremely difficult to teach someone something who knows everything.

TrueBlue1986: Masses of people with a different attitude(a new generation) - that changes the world.
Why aren't you spending your time with a political party, rising to the realm of office and making the changes you want instead of complaining on here, a dating site, about anything and everything?
rileymax07: Sorry, but you're an idiot!!!! And someone should slap your mother for raising such a narrow minded fool.
Just remember... someday you will be 40... and I truly hope that someone tells you that you are an elderly waste of space.
Have a nice day.
He makes some very valid points. Parents who are too self absorbed to show discipline or seven self discipline. Who are consumer driven with little regard to the world around them. Parents who would rather be their childrens friend rather than their parent. As for his comment on not wishing to grow up? I am amazed how so many have been reduced to insulting him,and name calling him in place of any argument. I salute the 24 year old who has refused to sling insults back in place of argument.

bestbefore: Yes well like Margaret Thatcher[ another golden oldie!] this lady's not for turning either.
I still think that the youth of today have got a lot to be thankful for, mostly to their parents.
I know my kids appreciate all that I did for them, and they are both affluent through hard work and graft.
Ahhh yes, Thatcher - China's best friend and the enemy of anybody who isn't a toff.
And I disagree, I think your generation has ruined the economy and saddled us with lifelong debt, I see that you are, as a generation, lazy and undisciplined compared to what England knew before you and so have no position to criticise my generation for inheriting your bad traits.
TrueBlue1986: I think we struggle to find qualities to respect in the older generation, if i'm honest. And it may not be so bad, we have got a lot of hard work ahead of us in our lifetimes and I think that in time we'll have much more character than your generation because of it. I certainly don't think it's the case that people become progressively more spoilt indefinitely, there must be a U-turn at some point.
You've watched "Clockwork orange too many times"!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have to agree that the mentality of alot of the youngsters today is down to poor parenting, yes.

Meaning that household income hasn't increased since 1973 and fifty years ago we were forerunners of the world but now we're in debt to the tune of billions to nations that were almost all peasants when you were born.
This is what I mean by failure, a failure that has been a creeping normalcy for decades.

The generation before 'our' generation made us and the ones before that made them so how far back would you like to go to place the blame?
Stop whining on here and do something if you feel that strongly about it

I think a lot of what the younger generation do now is helped along by Government policies . Changing attitudes and mindsets . As maybe it was in our times as well {ref ,im 60}
But now you cant even chastise your own kids , ive got 4 sons ,youngest 29 , and Grandkids ,
Cant even hit the kids anymore or keep them in the house ,or they fone the Police and you get arrested ,
Then some knife the Teacher as we see in the media , in my time you were put in an institution iff you showed signns of delinkquency , ,
Now there roaming the streets .
Having said that some good kids do behave and go to Uni to better themselves ,.

just a thought, it was the over 50 brigade who gave you the National health service you enjoy, the welfare system, the standard of living you have.
And guess what it is the under 50's that are trying to undo it all....MMMMMMMMMMM Let's just cull the folks who cannot see the good their elders and betters did for them..

An 80 year old would of been what 16/17 when the NHS was formed.
It's the generation after that has bankrupted our economy to the point where it threatens the NHS.

Well I can't speak for the rest of my generation ,but all I know is that I was born during a war,saw my parents work hard to provide a home ,and care for me and my brother. We weren't blessed with modern day "toys" such as computors,Ipods the list is endless ,yet we were happy and were raised in a country that was trying to get back on it's feet after a war. There were no problems with drugs in those days either.
I in turn have done the same for my children and seen them turn in to responsible adults.
The youth of today is no comparison to those of my generation I can assure you.
By the way I'm not a fan of Mrs. Thatcher either, but please don't insult me by telling me that I'm responsible for the mess you feel you are in.
To put the blame on others is just passing the buck. I would be interested in knowing how you would like your world to shape up to your expectations and what you intend to do about it.
No good protesting if you are not prepared to put in some hard graft .Words come cheap it's actions that count.

Oh I know hon and I think the same thing. If they have such strong passions about politics etc and have incredibly strong opinions about how things should be done then why whine all day and every day about it on here? If they want the world to change and they think they have all the answwers, they should step up and carry the mantle

I think that it was the Thatcher/Reagan ideology and generation that really kick started the consumer boom and the buy now pay later have it all mentality that lead to our economic mess.Credit credit credit, boom and bust. We all wanted what everyone else had instead of living by our means. It created a very selfish society. This was coupled with a generation who went soft of discipline yet wrapped their children in cotton wool. Stay home and play computer consoles instead of going out doors and learning life lessons. Instead of learning that doing things that are wrong or harmful as a child they are not learning these life lessons until they are much older. So a youth ends up in prison for his stunts instead of learning not to do it at a much younger age. I do think that we are responsible for a lot.
