Buyers remorse...

Jim, that could be true.
I'm not 100% but I believe Best Buy is different when it comes to expensive electronics like TV's, as they record your transaction information and returns by the product serial number.

In the news...

I'm adding to the list...
Trump stated Hurricane Dorian would hit Alabama.
The weather center said no, but trump insisted he was right.
A few days later he appears on TV with a large print from the NOAA showing an old projected path of Dorian. Someone used a black marking pen and drew an extension to the cone in the direction of Alabama.

Trump defended his claim and Twitter went viral with it.

Naturally, the jokes poured in!

RE: Pain

chatillion
How long have you had this injury?

Moelle
Yes Chatillon not an injury just strain on the knee

How long have you had this strain on the knee?

RE: Great movies

LIFEBOAT 1944, 1 hour 37 minutes.
I found a bootleg clip on YouTube but it's only 1 hour 13 minutes and ends right when they take on the passenger of the German U-boat.

RE: Pain

How long have you had this injury?

finding a needle in a haystack...

Needle and a haystack. Ferrous or not.

RE: Where is Lindsy (LJ)????

loulou... I totally forgot about that incident.
Thanks for the reminder. Yes, it was severe.

Hurricane Dorian... meet Florida!

The 8 p.m. advisory.140 mile an hour winds Dorian is stationary over the Bahamas. The storm has been there all day tearing up those islands. The reason why it's not moving is because the upper-level atmosphere is calm and that's normally what steers storms.
As long as Dorian remains in warm waters it will continue to be fueled.

Hurricane Dorian... meet Florida!

Monday September 2, 2019 update.
Hurricane Dorian has slowed from 185 to 165 maximum sustained winds and down to 1 mile per hour westerly direction. That's not a typo. ONE mile per hour.
This storm is literally sitting over the Bahamas tearing things up!
The Northerly turn doesn't look like it will be until Tuesday and not as tight as the original prediction. This means there is a stronger chance it will affect North Palm Beach up to Daytona Beach.

RE: Nothing radioactive here

My uncle was a lab technician and gave me one that was not being used.
I too couldn't find anything useful to test until I found a YouTube video showing how to modify it to receive different signal wavelengths.

Bring it to a party and see how long before the host tells you to leave !!

The shelves are bare...

Ken, agreed, they aren't prepared for high wind conditions.

The shelves are bare...

I did a quick run to Walmart and they only have spring water in gallon bottles. All the meats are in stock. Salmon is on my menu tonight!
The store was busy like any weekend, no lines of panic buying... except cans of tuna!

The shelves are bare...

daniela the people in the Bahamas are suffering with 185mph wind gusts and flooding.
The hurricane has slowed to 7mph... that's walking speed. It will level anything in it's path and be there all day.

Hurricane Dorian... meet Florida!

Storm surge of 20 feet. Unless you are on a mountain (or 4th floor of a resort) the water will be over your head.

What surprises me is Channel 10 (from Miami) has a crew doing live from the Bahamas and they aren't thinking about safety as the water where they are filming from is waist deep.

Hurricane Dorian... meet Florida!

There are a few YouTube links with live coverage from the Bahamas. One guy reported the highest wind gusts are reaching over 200mph!

The shelves are bare...

Red, if a category 3 hurricane has a direct hit, most people will be without power for at least a week. Many areas will be on a boil water restriction. Trees in most neighborhoods will have broken limbs so local passage is blocked until the hurricane relief crew arrive with chain saws.

Category 5 has houses without roofs and trees totally uprooted.

The shelves are bare...

jac, that's more than a glass of water per day... not my total fluid intake.

My diet includes milk, several different kinds of juice, sports drinks, soft drinks, soup, coffee and rare occasions... Kombucha!

RE: The Price One Pays

I remember Nova Scotia in the winter. That was a horrible experience for me. My decision is heat over cold anytime. That's why I'm a Miami guy.

Hurricane Dorian... meet Florida!

There is a disturbance in the Gulf of Mexico that could be influencing this storm. The 8 a.m. advisory is showing a northerly curve before it reaches the Coast of Florida

Comey Days...

One of the best comments I read for that news story:

So then if Comey leaked, only weeks before the election, that he was reopening the Hillary investigation, technically she should have been automatically declared president?

Hurricane Dorian... meet Florida!

The 5pm advisory is out and Dorian is predicted to travel WNW. The speed has slowed to 9mph and sustained winds are holding at 115mph.

The problem with a slow moving hurricane is hours and hours of heavy winds in the same area and rain literally changes the geography. Sand blown up on the beaches will most likely cover highway A1A. Flooding in low lying areas cannot drain. They will open the floodgates expecting the overflow to drain into the ocean but it's most likely the storm surge will hold the water back. Some areas have pumps to force the water out but that's only a band-aid and may not be effective.

Dorian... meet Florida!

This went from a 'nothing to worry about' tropical storm to a prediction of a category 3 hurricane. Moving slowly and picking up intensity, the forecast is for Dorian to reach landfall Monday morning.

Dorian... meet Florida!

Holiday weekend coming so it's anticipated the stores would be busy.
Already a frenzy at the 24 hour Wal-Mart. I'll try back at 3am...

Dorian... meet Florida!

The forecast this morning is a TOTAL change from yesterday.
Dorian is now predicted to become a hurricane early Friday morning, move further North and hit landfall in the St. Augustine region, more than half-way up the East coast of Florida sometime in the early hours of Monday.

Dorian... meet Florida!

The 5am advisory has Dorian as a tropical storm and not reaching hurricane intensity.
It's predicted to continue Northwest and curve West-Northwest over the Bahamas.
By Sunday morning Dorian will hit the East coast of Florida North of West Palm Beach, probably in the Port St. Lucie area.

Dorian... meet Florida!

The 8pm advisory has the storm heading directly to Mar-a-Lago.

Dorian... meet Florida!

The 5 p.m. advisory shows a slight turn into Florida. I'm waiting to see what the 8 p.m. advisory shows.

RE: Out of the mouths of babes......

It's interesting to him... that's why he blogged it!

In the news...

Accept he's in power for his term and deal with it.

fiorenza, it's not that simple. Decisions of a president (both good and bad) will shape the future of the country.
It's reported Trump went behind closed doors with Russian diplomats. Should the American people be comfortable with that?

RE: Things that need doing

Hire someone to do it. After a while, you will realize it's more cost effective to do it yourself and keep the money!
