Things that need doing

It was my birthday in March, it’s now nearly September and the three cards I received are still standing on my windowsill. On another windowsill, I have five filing boxes for storing bank statements, utility bills and such like. Next to the boxes is a pile of paper yet waiting to be filed away in the boxes. I sometimes sit for ages wishing I would get a duster and remove the dull grey coating that covers all my furniture, and I just can’t understand why I am prepared to waste ten minutes gazing at the crumbs under my table, yet begrudge spending a few seconds to get rid of them.

I hate clutter, which makes my tendency to create it both frustrating and puzzling. I might finish a jar of marmalade and rather than just throw the empty jar away, think, ah! that could come in handy for something, so I put it on top of the cupboard, next to the empty margarine carton. Then, one day, I will sit for ten minutes staring at the top of my cupboard thinking, hmm, I could put that lot in a plastic bag, take it out to the bin and be back in my chair -looking at nice, empty space on top of my cupboard- in less than two minutes. And, in deed, that is true; I could.

I don’t like doing housework, it’s as simple as that. Yes, I know lots of people don’t like housework yet still get on and do it, but knowing that is not enough to motivate me to do it. There are so many other things I would rather be doing, and that I would be doing if I could be bothered. But the thing is, I am bothered; this sorry state of affairs bothers me very much.

Anyway, enough is enough -I thought- so I finally did something about it; I wrote it all down, and here it is. I feel much better now. Although while I was writing I couldn’t help noticing the state of my keyboard, it’s a disgrace.

Hire someone to do it. After a while, you will realize it's more cost effective to do it yourself and keep the money!
Hey..what are you doing off work today Hoobie? wow
You could use your day off to clean up?

I don't keep all my empty containers and jars etc..on top of cupboards but INSIDE them and preferably in cardboard boxes.

And what are you filing boxes doing on windowsills??.
I think plants would look nicer?

I have only ONE filing box which is kept in a shelf like part of the furniture and decor.

You know what you need don't you? wink

As for the breadcrumbs on the floor...maybe you could feed the birds?dunno
daniela, he is politely and in a round about way saying - he needs a good filing box!!! laugh
I love housework nothing better than feeling sparkling clean to match my home.

I will come and organise your clutter I'm allergic to scattered clutter for real hug
Maybe Fio...but he still needs someone to sort out the papers to be filed? dunno

Madre Mia! Hombres!doh
My marmalade jars are not manky, fiorenza. I wash them before they go on the cupboard, I'm not a total slob. snooty
I would only end up keeping the money and still not doing it, Chat. sigh
I'm thinking of getting myself a mouse to deal with the breadcrumbs, daniela. idea
Merc, get here as soon as you can, I need you now. hug
Perhaps that's the answer, Cat. Maybe I should impose some sort of order on my chaos. hmmm
Silly man!
I currently live a minimalist lifestyle so clutter isn't an issue.

Aside from sketch pads (and toilet paper) I've practically gone paperless.
Badly Drawn,

Just don't mix your papers up!!! laugh
You and your sweet talking, fiorenza. batting
Perhaps you could draw me a tidy living room, BD. writing
You're just funny and full of waffle! laugh
You say that as though you come here not expecting to see waffle, fiorenza.
How many times have you gone back to look at old utility bills. If ever you need an old one the power company can provide it. I haven't save old bills for over a decade - I LOATHE PAPER. Almost every thing is done electronically now a days.
Okay, Fay, let's put it to the test. How much electricity did you use in February 2004? grin
Fio, good catch! laugh
It might be too late though. Some of my drawings do look like sh#t.
dunno
rolling on the floor laughing Your drawings aren't that bad, Badly!!!
I meant "Captain", I'm so sorry for my unintended thoughtlessness.
I left my clutter back in Malaysia yay

laugh
Mimi,

How are you getting on in Nebraska?
Fio, I'm almost glad you asked!

That's Cap'n BS with his sidekick, Cinder Block.
roll eyes
Hi Fiorenza you made me smile and feel grateful.

I'm trying to be as nice as my little chihuahua.
wave Unfayzed!

Thought it best to do that before I start trying to work out Mr Badly's drawing... A cow's rear, a ladder leading up to it and what looks like a frozen chicken flying east of it and that thing in between looks a bit like a cassette tape...

Perplexingmongous! laugh
Please pardon the crude drawings, Fio. They were thrown together years ago and for a specific someone.
laugh
Fiorenza applause bouquet

MiMi is not homesick but foodsick blues

MiMi wants her usual spicy noodles for breakfast. Indian curry rice for lunch. Fried sweet potato or banana for tea-time. Chicken rice for dinner and perhaps an Indian pancake for supper!! blues
Mimi,

Can't you get those favourites shipped over to where you are? I hope he's looking after you apart from that, how exciting to be with the man you love in a new country! Very happy for you! cheers
Fiorenza is right, BD, it does look like a ladder.

And if it is for ascending, I can't help but wonder why.

And if for descending, cannot but wonder what. confused
Perhaps it's toilet paper and not a ladder. It's a very tall cow.
That's mighty hospitable of you, Hoober!

Mind if I take off my sandals and socks?
laugh
Thanks, Fiorenza hug bouquet

He’s looking after me very well smitten

Few of my girlfriends have offered to send me things but I declined coz it’s absurd to even think of the freight/postage charges wow

There are few Asian markets here but them prices are exorbitant and not the things I’m used to back home.

When I go back to Malaysia for a holiday next summer, I’d haul back the whole grocery shop when it’s time to get back to Omaha! laugh
A cow-ta-pult?
confused
Mimi, Oh well, going without some of your favourite food is a small price to pay for your true love!

(Just as long as you don't starve! laugh )
No casa es tu casa! hug

Btw who on earth would want to look at an electric bill from 2014????roll eyes
It's not the wanting to, daniela, it's knowing you could if you did want to that's the point.
laugh

I'm not quite sure why that's funny, Fay but Carrot top came to mind.
