I know how you feel. We had Bambi for 15 years and she too was part of the family. Eventually we too had to say goodye, not too long ago.

We always remember her with fondness, and i'm sure you will remember Mike in the same way too.

I am sure there are those who benefit from all of this, but there will be even more who benefit long term if workable action plans are forth-coming and accepted.

If we all refuse to do anything because of the corruption and the excesses of the few who can afford it, and the few who benefit from it, then this world would be in a sadder state than it is right now.

I would much rather be hung for doing something about it, than for sitting back and letting go of the reigns.

I agree to a large extend that the corporate giants have created the problem and then exacerbated it.

The tradegy is that we as individuals jumped on the band-wagon because we too wanted a piece of the pie.

Like it or not, there is a price to be paid. The question is whether we pay our share of the price or whether we leave it all for our kids and their off-spring to bear the burden.

Personally I would prefer that since I introduced them to this world that I leave it in a state which my kids and grandkids, can enjoy the benefits of, and learn to give it the respect which our generation has failed to do.

the probelm for us is that the plans which they make are so long term, that we often don't get to see any sign of change because it is so gradual.

and often the changes which do occur aren't seen in perspective.

For example, CT has recently lauched a rapid transport system, but I wonder how many people realize that it is in fact part of cape Town's plan to reduce carbon emmissions.

Hopefully it will enhance ALL our lives. COP17 is something like the EARTH SUMMIT????

They are discussing climate change and the strategies which the various players can impliment to reduce the impact of humans on the distruction of the earths resources and more immediately, and importantly, the climate.
