RE: "'RAMBLIN MAN"..("RAMBLE ON")..(85)

Nam , You are wrong in saying I am not in the U S A . Puerto Rico is an enhanced Commewelth of the United States and all it's citizens are United States Citizens ( act of Congress 1917 ).

I do hope you get your truck back on the road, I would be lost without mine . I'm also going to leave for the evening . There is a show on I want to see .

RE: "ENFORCING THE LAW"

Nam , I think that most of the " illegal immigrants " are here to do all the things that most Americans would not do . It's king of like a nessesary evil that we tolerate because so much of the economy depends on it . I also feel that the vast majority are mostly hard working family people who could not make it in there country . so they come here and work for substandard wages . I also believe that some ( not all ) are bad types and should not be tolerated .

This immigration thing has been going on for a long time and none of the simplistic answers floating around are helping any . I also read that most of the really bad guys ( ISIS, Taliban, etc. ) come here through Canada from Europe .

RE: "ENFORCING THE LAW"

If you are going to enforce the law then by all means enforce the law . Don't try and sell some half-baked scheme of a magic wall that is to be paid by a foreign government . Spend the money on sevalience both ground and air and be ready to detain and return all that you find .

I don't think that many people really know how massive an undertaking a wall of that size will be ! It will have more steel and concrete than our largest dams . They at least where in one spot and not wandering all over the countryside . It also will be very expensive . Once built ( if it ever does ) it will do what walls have always done, and that is sit there . Walls don't know if you are friend or foe and if you scale them or tunnel under or go through the main gate .

In order for a wall ( or a border ) to work you need people to station them and a sevailence system to monitor activity . You also need a response team to apprehend and detain all suspects that you find . Untill you do this anything you prepose or build will fail .

PS: If a wall was such a simple answer to the problem why wasn't one built when it was first brought forward in the 80's ?

RE: Build the wall, might be cheaper than deportation expense and time

Well more bad news from the history department . Almost all the " Great " and " famous " walls and static defences in history have been breached and did not do what was intended .

First off, just to build this thing will be a massive undertaking . It will use as much steel and concrete as Boulder dam ! It will have to be thirty feet or more to not be climbed by simple extension ladders . and even if you put barbed wire over the top of it, a simple pair of bolt cutters ( sold at any hardware store ) will nip out sections of it to pass over .

Even if you don't try and scale it you could just tunnel under it . The only way to stop ( slow ) this is to make the footer something like 30 feet deep also . This would make it harder to tunnel but it would just about triple the cost ! The other thing that most people do not think about is that the ones that are on the list of not to be here are not stupid like you all are . Yes they might be bad guys but they will just go around the stupid thing like the thinking individuals they are . Most will probably come in from Canada . What are you going to do then ? Build a three thousand mile wall and send Canada the bill !

Well you all would most likely be dumb enough to fall for that one also . . . . . rolling on the floor laughing

RE: The Day the Music Died

Sorry for the late reply , but as a pilot you should always be aware of conditions you fly in . Too many have paid the ultimate price for the information you have in operating one of these things . From what I have read and heard about this one is that it was bitterly cold that night and I can't even believe that the pilot wasn't aware of it . he also should have had the heat lever on even before it took off . I also do not know how long he warmed up the engine but you should always and that is ALWAYS check the temp gage before taking off as well as tack, oil, and fuel etc.

My guess is that as the plane sat warming up the prop air was circulating in the cowl and the heat off the cylinders was keeping the carb from freezing . once air born the steady stream of frigid air was blowing the warm air out the back and not long after it iced the carb and went down . He wasn't very far form the airport so he didn't have time or altitude to restart or take any evasive action and had no choice but to set it down .

Things like this are very sad because almost all of this is taught in flight school . Pre flight is one of the first things they teach you and it is on the test so there is really no excuse for not knowing it . I suspect that after a while some hot shots don't need to be told what to do . I also read all the time about small planes going down that should have been prevented .

RE: Cant beat a bit of Elvis Presley,......................

Elvis did not drink alcohol however he did take drugs . He did marry Percilla but she was not under aged when he did . He also did not die broke or alone . He did however change the face of music for the latter half of the twentieth century and was a major influence on the Beatles and most of the groups that followed .

He is generally considered to be the major entertainer of the last century and his legacy still resonates today in the hoards of impersonators and the most recognized entertainer of all time . Not bad for a poor kid from Mississippi .wow wow

Being dyslexic myself I wouldn't call it an asset but at least I'm not in the class that give us a hard time about it . I think you know what I mean .

RE: Relationships over borders.

The term " foreigner " is in reality just a social/political form of elitism . I have in my life met and had some form of relationship with lots of women both " domestic " and " foreign " . The only conclusion I can draw from it is that people are basicly the same all over the world . There customs and mannerisms may differ but the individual person acts much the same as any other . . . .flirty shimmy flirty
